Anyone else got / seen one of these?

#1 Post by gareth »

Afternoon folks

Been having a tidy up today and unearthed this laminate tag........

Image

It was, in 1987 or 88 from memory, attached to a pair of PSB Xmas socks (long disappeared unfortunately) and was sent to me as an Xmas gift from the boys. The reverse is printed with "Best Wishes" (written by Chris I think) and both their signatures, a la the Christmas cards we all know so well now. Found a load of those today as well incidentally - including the mobile and the advent calendar!

Just wondered if anyone here had seen one before? Could be thousands of them for all I know!

Thanks

Gareth

I think the 1987 "tour pass" laminated card is fairly rare. I have all the cards from 1988 onwards, but alas not the 1987 one.

Hi Doris

I seem to remember them having holly and Xmas trees on - or is my memory playing festive tricks on me?!

I got one too. Didn't get any socks with it but did get a navy coloured woolly hat with 'Pet Shop Boys' in red around the edge of it.

Nice promotional card from photographer Andy Earl too:

Amazing what you find lying around - I appear to have kept a heap of mailed cards for Performance, Can you forgive her?, Go West, Bilingual, Se A Vida E, Somewhere etc. It was always a treat when they popped through the letterbox - and often the first confirmed news of a release - unless you'd read it on teletext!

Sigh... How lucky you are! Every time I see those Christmas cards of the Boys, I start to miss them so much and only wishing I was a fan earlier on!

The socks had the old Pet Shop Boys logo in red with a little sprig of holly on the corner of the logo! Very nice indeed...

Can you show us the backside of the 1988-card ?
They showed that card on a tv show where they did a competition to win some PSB-stuff.
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

Is any of this stuff worth anything? At 34 years old with enough clutter to last a lifetime I'm thinking of trying to get rid of it - possibly along with a pretty huge collection of PSB vinyl which is just collecting dust these days - sad but true!
