Tim (Keane) talking about PSB on the Keane OS

#1 Post by Oznerol »

TIM: I do still find it intimidating meeting people that I really idolise, definitely. The worst one was when I met the Pet Shop Boys for the first time. I was so nervous, and I just dribbled on at them – it was just awful. I met them again recently and they were very nice.

Did they remember the first time?

TIM: It was bizarre actually – I went to their gig at Hammersmith a few weeks ago and went backstage, and the first thing Neil said was “Oh hello, it’s nice to see you!. Have you met Kylie Minogue?”, which I thought was great! If you’d asked me in 1989 if I ever thought I’d be being introduced to Kylie by Neil Tennant, that would have seemed like the stuff of... um... weird dreams. (pause) We won’t go there!
This is not my signature.

Didn't know they met that time. Maybe it'll end up with a new dream collaboration nevertheless?
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

Some more. In the new interview for the "The Sun", Richard drop a line about Neil & Chris:
Without them there would be no Keane. They’re the band that made Tim first listen to music.
What's interesting for me, is that WarChild Keane' gig will be aired widely on UK and Europe stations (what is great thing in itself), and I guess if there will be a chance for us to hear (and record) Boys performance as well... because it seems to be a different to the Fundamental tour, sort of new Barfly-esque concert. Does anyone know?

It was clear since A Lif In Pop that there is a strong link between Keane and PSB. I'd like a collaboration between the two band or a cover by The Keane of a PSB's track. Let's hope to see somewhere the performance by PSB in London...
