Why is global warming so bloody cold?

#1 Post by pet shop boy »

Not only has it been bloody cold over the last week, now its snowing with driving winds and settling, whereas in recent years it struggled to settle in frozen febuary, and its only mid november.

This planet needs to heat up more, get out there and drive your cars, leave your tv's on and dont re-cycle.

Shiver me timbers **shudder**

It snowed last November - then we got one of the warmest winters on record.

It's cold here. The wind is blowing and the rain is falling. I'm going to get wet going home. :(

Of course it hasn't snowed here but it's been quite cold here, too. And it seems this weeks temperatures will raise like 10-15º!

i read: global warming could destroy the "gulf-stream" that keeps europe warm. so global warming could lead to new ice age in europe. but this should happen after the ice on the poles is gone, so we have a couple of years left. till then i'll try to become a yeti.

You're a moron. Climate change is a process that occurs over years, and even then, we're talking a few degrees in a century. Secondly, there's a difference between climate and weather. You can have cold weather in a warm climate, and warm weather in a cold climate. A warmer climate does not mean that it is always going to be warmer weather. Thirdly, global warming does not mean it is going to get warmer everywhere. As so heart has pointed out, a potential redirection of the Gulf Stream that keeps Britain's climate mild could result in this country actually getting colder as a direct result of GW.

I could almost forgive you asking such obviously dumb questions, except that these things have already been pointed out to you before in earlier threads on the subject. So either you didn't read other people's posts properly, didn't understand them, or are being deliberately obtuse and trying to troll (or, more likely, all three).

The last thing we need is ANOTHER stupid global warming thread where gibbering idiots spout the latest conspiracy bollocks they dug up from some fascist paranoia website. I'd seriously advise the admin to lock this one before it gets any dumber.

Climate change hasnt always happened this slowly. The Earth has seen far more dramatic changes to it's climate through the ages.

Does that also mean could not too?

Seeing as you dont know, not much point scaring people. You're like a government spin doctor putting fear into innocent people's minds.

in the end this all doesnt matter. its as if you can already see that people and policys and countrys are lining up to fight global warming. the talk is all about alternate energy sources, hybrid cars, green energy etc etc.

so whether one agrees or not about global warming it does seem on the surface at least people are making up their minds to make changes.

this is just one of those things that time will only be able to judge whether GW was all just another alarmist view of whats happening.serious time.

Well, the warm Atlantic gulfstream that sweeps up from N America is being interrupted by rapidly melting glaciers sending cold water down from Greenland. The UK is being chilled by the cold water flowing south from melting glaciers.

It's called "climate change". It's also called "winter". Is the UK having an Ice Age that hasn't made the news, or something?

"I'm cold! Global warming must be a myth! Bwah!"

Ugh.
