alluding the USA/britains history of going to war almost exclusevly with despots/tyrants and rogue countrys as on par with terrorist groups like Al queda is just skewed left wing college campus nonsense not based in reality.

history certainly hasnt judged the US/britian as terrorist countrys so you have no right other than an upside down weird agenda that you have personally.

double standards are totaly fair when concerning nuclear capabilitys. you dont just hand them out as a right. it should n fact be based on the mentality of the people and leaders of countrys. and Iran shouldnt be allowed to have these weapons anymore than a child should be allowed to have a gun.

I was commenting on your justification of violence. I was pointing out that your logic
is the same as used by those who commit violence against us.

Of course we should stop Iran getting nukes. Please stop painting me as an idiot.
But I would say, Israel should sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty also.

The Republicans one eyed approach to international law and treaties is the problem.
America should abide by (for example) war crime treaties the same as the rest of us.
The list of double standards is very, very long.

Yes, Greg, it's all coming out- the NIE is from August, and apparently Dick Cheney fought tooth and nail from it coming out at all. Bush, who's briefed daily on everything, is claiming that only NOW he knows what the contents of the August report actually said.

Meaning, his sabre-rattling about WWIII was done knowing that the report was complete.
The dissemnbling happening hourly in the last 48 hrs by the WHouse is startling to behold. Even the most obeisant of the major media lapdogs are waking up. Is he lying, or is he stupid and criminally incompetent?

Glenn, This topic has nothing to do with me, it has to do with the impending threat of the US attacking Iran, a third simultaneous war in the Middle East. Can you get it through your skull that I can oppose Iranian persecution of gays yet not want the US to attack Iran on utter lies?
It would be a catastrophe, and WHEN are you going to enlist, btw?

It's laughable that you , a demonstrable bigot, suddenly care about gay rights in Iran more than I do. Stop typing away about wanting war, son- go get off your ass and enlist if you're so keen for it.

I think the police should be tough on crime. do I have to become a police officer and battle crime? nope.

I am just pointing out as usual, the creepy and weird sort of betrayal in which gay people betray their own kind so readily in some kind of notion of being civilized and anti-war.

the very same people such as you are so full of hate for watered down christians in their own western country yet are TOTALLY willing to accept the modus operandi of death for fellow gays in other countrys.

its the acceptence that allowed the nazi then, and now the Islamic extremists to continue.thankfully, Bush and leaders of the past have taken war to these primitive types and ideologys and kept them in a perpetual state of ruin so they cant bring their nonsense to other countrys.

which is why like I said, you can still go to your seedy little bars.you've benefited from war and the Bushes of history complaning every step of the way. great living in the west huh deschanel?you could at least send Bush a christmas card.

I wish I could go to seedy little bars ; I can barely leave my apartment.
Look after your health and have sickness insurance my friends.

And have a good weekend. :D

I assume people want a rest or not have to feel obliged to watch,
or perhaps just not have net access over the weekend.
So I will not post anything serious on Fridays or weekends. :)

Wow, Glenn, I just tossed your words into a blender , made a daquiri, fed it to a rabbit, and the rabbit died due to your utter lack of sense, horrible grammar, and atrocious spelling. Scientists are looking into it.

WOW, you are obsessed with the gheys, aren't you. Nonstop talk about how if we don't attack Iran I'm betraying the gays? Uh..

What do you have against Irish bars? Why do you think I'm not of "the West'? Why do you think I'm not an American? Why do you comically state that I owe my existence to the demented alcoholic warmonger Bush ?

"Great living in the west, huh deschanel?"
Uh, where else would I live, you drunken douchebag. Turning the question around, isn't it great for you that illiterate sheep like you have their own media outlets where they can be proud of their bestial dumbness: FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, et al?

Seriously, you flaunt your retarded Bush Ugly American stupidity better than anyone out there.
Keep it up.

Whoa whoa whoa. Clearly we should be discussing more important matters. What do you think of federal liberal leader Stefan Dion proposing stationing search and rescue planes in our frozen tundra, as a way to stake Canada's claim over the north?

I mean really, what do wars, nukes, Iran, and Bush have to do with current world affairs? I think we should accept we're all wrong and drink some liquids, because bodies need liquid. And don't say you were going to drink liquids anyways, you're clearly just following my orders. And go to sleep sometime in the next 48 hours. Show your complacency and servitude by obeying!

like I said, you are gay and can only enjoy your freedoms because the warmongers of the US and UK bombed, invaded and blew up ideology's that would spread and persecute you and others considered inferior to whatever hostile force there was of whatever age.

you could only be the ugly and unlikable and overly political anti government gay dechanel in a western country because of bombs and warplanes and tanks.

besides, I read your posts. no way someone with your nasty disposition isnt and hasnt been violent. you think I believe you flip a switch and become a peaceful likeable pleasant guy in real life when you walk away from the computer? you've got a record. I would bet money.

Hey WEM,

I have not heard about that issue. What I did hear about was the North West Passage
opening up and USA and Canada are in dispute now over if it is international waters.

More interesting to me is that this is more clear evidence of GW but that is another hot :P topic.

I always get a bit confused with Canada's parties. Down under the "Liberals" are the
conservatives, in fact neo-con Bush supporting conservatives.

Glen and Deschanel, I would defend the person being picked on, but it is hard to tell who is the victim.
I do think anyone has the right to political opinions, without sexuality being brought in.

Well Greenland actually feels they own a chunk of the north, and we say the opposite. And now that the passage may be valuable, the U.S. obviously wants a cut. Interesting to note is Canada's vast resources of water and oil, so it's scary to think of what the U.S. will do once they need them.

Hmm, well the Conservatives are in power right now, like 35% of popular support, to the Liberal's 28% public support. The NDP usually gets 19% but very few seats, and the Green gets 10% but no seats. Cos we use the FREAKING outdated first past the post system. In Ontario we had a referendum to vote on changing it to mixed member proportional, but it lost! WTF? Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. are the last industrialized nations to be using such a shite system. It's like, whoever gets the biggest piece of the pie gets the whole pie. 1 in 10 Canadians vote Green but they get zero representation. Anywho, our Prime Minister Stephen Harper is a bit like Bush, in that noone seems to like him but he wins elections. There's a whole issue of him being too cosy with the U.S. and Bush, and he's a severely unlikeable guy, but the Liberals had power for over a decade and became a bit complacent and corrupt, so it seems he has a pass for a few years.

There you have it, Canada's issues! Stimulating.

Hi WEM,

Actually, it was interesting.

Your PM seems a bit like ours who was just voted out. All you have to do is get
a good leader and it is surprising how soon things turn around.

I am not convinced about getting rid of seats to go to proportional representation.

Aus has a similar system but with an upper house (Senate) democratically elected by proportional voting. So the two big parties win government in lower house but Greens
and minor parties get 10% of the Senate and can modify bills and have a say.

Proportional representation will give you less stable governments.

Yeah, that was the argument against it, but you'd laugh at our 'stable' governments now. Very few majorities, with elections seemingly every year. I just think a tenth of the voting population not getting their vote heard at all is wrong. It also turns voting into strategy, rather than just voting for who you believe in. Like, don't waste your votes on the NDP, vote Liberal and keep the Conservatives out. Politics should get back to grassroots, especially with its western corrupt image.

Oh its multiple choice.

a)
b)
c)
d) All of the above.
f) None of the above

And the correct answer is d) all of the above.

Now who picked "f" ?

Thursday 20th Dec 2007.

Japan ramps up whale hunting in Southern Ocean.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/whale-watch/ ... 43296.html

Japan has been killing 500 Minke whales each year for scientific research.
Of course they all wind up in restaurants in Japan and there is no science to show
for 500 dead whales.

More disturbing is they are now going to kill 50 endangered Hump back whales each
year, again for "scientific research". Sadly these Hump backs are used to humans
beacuse of whale watching and will approach to whaling ships with innocent curiosity.

Whaling is not a long tradition in Japan, only starting like this after WW2.

I am curious. Do other folk around the world know or care ? Do Japanese people not
get told about this by the press there ? We get told that Japanese people think whales
are just fish. Is that true ?

Just curious.
