Having been in government for one week, there are no studies done on what it is possible to cut.
Rudd is meticulous about detail. So he is waiting for the report due next year on how much it is possible to cut.

I see USA is doing its usual job trying to undermine the Bali conference, by getting
any numbers on limits, dropped from the closing agreement.

Also USA is now squabbling with Canada for rights to the newly opened North West passage.
Did the ice melt because of a socialist plot ?

Investment tip : While USA is cutting interest rates, our big spending neo-con government caused high inflation
and we are raising interest rates. So Aus$ will rise over US$ for the next year.

if your not behind the most realistic and viable and down to earth force to be reckoned with when it comes to energy without CO2 emmisions...and thats nuclear energy, then your about as relevant and serious about solutions to global warming as that irrelevant yet feel good treaty called kyoto.

Hey Glen.

I actually think there is a place for nuclear. Colder northern hemisphere countries without
good access to renewables may need it. But :

1. It should only be in reliable countries where its use can trusted and monitored.
It should not be sold willy nilly to third world countries for profit.

2. I wont speak for US but here the same mining companies that corruptly
pushed coal through the old government, are now doing the same with Uranium.
The old government did a deal with India (where people cheer in the street when
they test nukes) and to Russia. How much do you trust Putin ? And remember this
was with the encouragement of the Bush government.

I also distrust those who have nuclear at the top of their list. There are plenty of
good options for base load power before you get to the cost and problems of nuclear.

the ice melts because it's a natural process. and at the same time, it's been freezing up again and record speed.you have yet to prove that it's manmade. economists pathetically fail to predict the economy of the same year and yet climatologists want to be able to predict the climate in 50 years?! isn't it nice that till then none of them are gonna be alive to be held answerable for their blatant lies. and i told you time and time again that this whole gw business lacks any kind of scientific standards. it's just too random and fuzzy and all-encompassing to be scientific.
and it's just inane not to use up the coal that we have. when it's given out we're gonna turn to something else. but not using the resources we have is just stupid. and to withhold nuclear energy from africa is just nefarious.
and kyoto has always been a joke as too many breached the limits. and bali? TEN THOUSAND

climate has always changed and any kind of weather has been there before. and it hasn't been warming for the past nine years either. only atheistic mother earth tree huggers could actually believe that something as natural as CO2, something humans and all animals exhale, is detrimental. and now those eco-wackos are trying to put taxes on cattle! because of their methane output. yet another asinine idea. methane is produced by all animals and it's been around forever. so how could it be a pollutant? how about taxing beans, onions and wholemeal bread too? but this is what it's all about: raising taxes, a socialists favorite pastime.

It seems to quote a lot of research from the 1920s, 30s and 50s to say GW does exist but is mild.
And the latest (spellcheck:lamest

) supporting article against GW is from the pope.

I don't think there is much point going over this on a Friday.

There is plenty of scientific research on that page. Of course if you gonna pick just a tiny time interval to fit your GW agenda and ignore the whole history, then you're gonna get a

You read some conspiracy website about how GW was cooked up by Roswell aliens or something which has shaped your mindset, and that's cool - just stop inflicting that tired old claptrap on the rest of us, because we've heard it all before, and it still has no credibility, and while you're at it, stop poisoning every thread with it too.

Why do you keep bitching about the climate? Weather has always been a bitch. And any kind of weather pattern you mention has been around before. Tell me when you would get the ideal climate. Where and how would you pin it down? So what if the Great Barrier Reef disappears? Dinosaurs disappeared, entire oceans disappeared, plants disappeared, mammoths disappeared too! In your fanciful world, the world is static and doesn't change at all. But the truth is that the world keeps changing all the time, just like it did in the past without our existence. So why do you suddenly whinge over a natural process that you cannot control? We cannot manipulate the climate and the costs compared to the benefit that you think you can get from reducing carbon are usurious(that once again only the poor would be feeling in their wallets and not limousine liberals such as Al Bore.). There are so many more pressing issues NOW than the GW baloney.
And yes, a typical socialist reflex is raising taxes. What pawn of the carbon industry? You actually believe that they assume that people are gonna consume less energy? They can easily offset any consumption by jacking up prices. There is no carbon industry manipulating you. But everybody with half a brain cell can see that this GW talk is just junk science because it has all the features of junk science. And yet you still try to convince people that it's a credible science. It's not and it never will be.
People in Europe and America have been freezing their asses off and they'd love to get some of the GW and save energy costs.
