Personally, I'm enjoying several tracks. However, as Coldplay fully enter into their "Imperial" phase, so-to-speak, the essence of the best blues/rock stuff they did in AROBTTH and X&Y did is IMHO getting lost under the massive (over-)production values they can now afford to buy in.
I think there may be echoes of "Fundamental" here, Trevor Horn = Brian Eno?

Do Coldplay have a new album out? I'd never have noticed. I have always loathed them ever since I saw him singing Yellow at Glastonbury - nursery rhyme lyrics set to a whiney dirge. I can't quite believe how massive they've become yet it all seems coldly precalculated and learnt by rote from the Bono book of portentous pomposity, replete with his trademarked multi-millionaire anti-capitalism sophistry (to the best of my knowledge, Karl Marx never did i-Tunes adverts) and the 'mission' to write the perfect stadium rock cliche, like Gwyneth shagging Harvey Weinstein to get her career going. Even the title track of the new album where you can see him trying to write something vaguely interesting doesn't work because despots don't end up sweeping the streets of the places they used to own musing upon their fall, they end up swinging from the nearest tree. And he looks more like he should be singing Any dream will do every time I see him.

seems another band is accusing them of stealing,scroll to the bottom.the singer of the band in question "creaky boards" or somethin himself posted a somewhat sarcastic youtube video to address it. the songs are similiar and I would even go so far to say, if chris martin was actually at their show, it would seem true, but its just not close enough for my taste. he might have been inspired by their song though.
