Like i said before, teams peak too early. Perfect examples were the Dutch and Croats. Robben missing was a major blow for the Dutch. They had hardly any pace and with the Russian defence being average, Van Basten should have played 2 out and out wingers. Especially as the Russian keeper has glue on his feet and comes out for nothing. Or even stuck someone up front with Van Basten, other than Van Persie who is too inconsistent.
I thought the Dutch were scared too of getting beat. Plenty of pace would have seen them through.
Like Kris said, the Russians would be a great side if the took more chances. Arshavin is the player of the tournament so far IMO.
Tomorrow brings us the biggest game of the tournament so far.

Most English will always remember Italia 90 and one of the fondest memories. It was one of the tournaments were you could come away and say that youactually perfomed and was a bit unlucky. The games v's Cameroon and Germany were 2 of the best and most tense matches i can remember.
It will always be remembered also for those ace tackles on the Argies v Cameroon. I'm off to look for it on Youtube because it was funny.
Lol, it took 3 attempts to nail the cheating druggie but they got there in the end

Here we go again. Football is supposed to be entertainment. Can someone tell the boring Italians. For f*** sake, they are doing what the Turks did the other night and play for penalties from the very beginning. You can understand Turkey to a certain extent but the Italians are supposed to be a top nation and they serve up this tripe.
Been impressed with the Italian centre halves though. Solid as a rock.

Justice done to be fair. No one should have to put up with watching that dross. The worst part is, they have enough quality to play decent, attacking football. How many times are the Italians beaten on pens? You think they would have learn't their lesson.
I can see why Luca Toni plays now. He's in to head it on to nobody. What a crock of sh*t. He might have done better if he had a strike partner but that doesn't excuse his 50 pence head. He must be the only player to have lead boots.
I wish people would stop going on about penalties being solely about bottle. It's about technical abilty and concentration as well. Two out of the three pens stuttered in their run up. all 3 were more concerned with staring at the ref, waiting for him to blow his whistle.
Spain and Russia could and should be a goal fest.
