UK Hi-Fi Store that Exports

#1 Post by Paulo »

Hi there,

I'm trying to buy a Pioneer DVD player that has a SCART output but I'm not having much luck.

I have a European TV that has SCART inputs. Unfortunately SCART is almost unheard of here, in Australia. 99% of the DVD players on the market do not have SCART and the other 1% do not have the features I'm after.

My only solution is to import a European DVD player.

I've tried ebay and google but can not find a UK Hi-Fi retailer that exports to Australia. I've even tried Amazon UK but they do not.

Can anyone recommend a Hi-Fi retailer that they have dealt with that is willing to export?

Better still, is anyone on this forum a Hi-Fi retailer willing to export? :D

Thanks
Paulo

Hey Paulo.

Wouldn't it be easier to get a SCART to HDMI (? or whatever) cable ?
That makes it easy to buy your favoured DVD player locally.

With the cost of plasmas so cheap now, you may replace the TV sooner
rather than later. Then you could have HDMI to HDMI.

Hi Greg,

Most UK players have a Scart and HDMI output so I am already thinking of the upgrade plan later down the track.

If I got a Scart converter cable it wouldn't be as good a quality as a straight scart to scart cable.

Give these a try. Probably the best UK HI Fi retailer and very cheap.
They deal with the UK armed forces, so they should know their way around exports.

Thanks, I've heard they're really good.

Unfortunately they don't ship outside the UK.

Trying to find a retailer that exports is harder than pulling teeth. :(

Hi James,

I've tried eBay but once again, can't find a retailer willing to ship to Australia.

I have thought about asking someone from here to order on my behalf but I don't think it's fair on them - making sure they get the exact right model and the responsibility of posting such a large item.

It's cool - I've decided to get a local model with a HDMI output and speed up my plans to upgrade the CRT widescreen TV with a plasma :D

All this for a casual tv watching room as well :P

Thanks everyone for their help.
