Oh, Jesus! Are you seriously playing the race card again? The typical socialist tack to shut people up! You know the invectives I've had to put up with from Dj D C and deschanel et al.? When did the moderators ever shut them up? I may have strong positions but I never called anybody any names.Syncratic wrote:Fox news is laregly seen as a joke in Britain. It's a kind of self-parody of itself and watched by people for a laugh. It seems that the target audience are people who are naive or uneducated and are blind to the tricks and emotive technques they use to attempt to construct a story.
There's a few good documentary's out there, you might find some on youtube, featuring ex-employees, who reveal the underhand tricks they use and the bullying tactics.
Imagine a version of The Daily Mai/Expressl magnified ten times and then transfer it to television and you'll know what I'm talking about.
The BBC is seen as slightly left leaning as is ITV to some extent, but ITV again is tabloid fodder for the proles.
Am I the only one who finds alig's comments about Obama bordering on the racist. Perhaps the mods are prepared to stand for that?
And as for the "educated" people: I know them very well. There is nothing educated about them apart from the fact that they are conceited and that they've been force fed the socialist lies on the media and schools and colleges. I attended college and know how daft the academic world is. Those people are full of shit and dilate on things that are just false and wrong. Then they see a lying liar named Obama who will say and do anything to become president and who is a Marxist with sociopathic tendencies and delusions of grandeur, and they actually do believe that he's the Obamessiah! Then comes FOX, debunks all the myths about Obama, and all the ignorant people weaned on CBS, NYT and CNN refuse to face the truth. Get off the kool-aid, guys. Obama is an opportunistic creep. I mean how can anybody consider voting for somebody who supports"partial birth abortion" aka infanticide, i.e. letting an unwanted baby starve to death?! What's wrong with people?!

well, this talk of people who watch FOX is uneducated or naive, its all the usual over the top nonsense by people who are most likely miffed their sides media isnt as effective....and watchable.
my God, the boredom of MSNBC and CNN and the BBC.just the kind of stiff, droll unattractive a time like spending 3 hours at grandma's house.
so they hit back the only way they can, ironically using the tactics they accuse republicans of using, demonizing the otherside as if they are some sort of lesser intelligence.oh brother.
its all very highschool and they are no different then the people they critize because they are the exact same people. just the other side of the coin.
BTW some of their anchor women are hotter that helps also.

Hardcore Democrat Orson Scott Card wrote an open letter to the so-called journalists and tells it like it is.

Is it really f***ing necessary for you to post seventeen f***ing times on this topic, Alig? Do you really think that the more often you post, the more you repeat the most robotic crap, that you're convincing anyone of anything?
No, you're poisoning discussion, you're an aggressive brute busting in to talk louder than anyone, but what you have to say is utter shit.
Ignore isn't good enough, you should be executed from here. You personally kill and smother discussions with your antisocial, hostile rants, and this place is f*** dismal to visit because you, the crazed fanatic , dominates every discussion by loud blathering FOX talking points and lies.
You're kind of a creep. What have you contributed, in this Community? Do you even like PSB?
Are you just here to relentlesly talk shit, because the moderators don't give a damn?

Can we swap him with bonkers Boris and have Barry over running the capital then?
Only last week Johnson called the USA "the greatest country on earth." This is the man who, sadly, holds the office of Mayor of London, with the biggest electoral mandate in the UK. There's nowt like a touch of patriotism. Where's Undietaker when you need him?

And educated in Brussels. Not to mention his great-grandfather being the Turkish interior minister Ali Kemal Bey, who fell out with Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey and was promptly stoned to death by an angry mob in the street.Dipso wrote:Boris was born in New York, oddly.
From what I saw of Turkey this month, their people to have become slightly more civilised, though none of the people I spoke to had heard of Boris Johnson. They had heard of The Beatles though.

The US may not be the greatest country on earth, but they are the closest to that title. When there's something strange in your neighborhood, who you're gonna call? THE U-S-A! Yes, the US are not perfect, but what other country is? The Us are hated by all the fascists in the world. And sadly, many ignorant, deluded or just nefarious Europeans side with those Islamofascists and other liberty-hating people.Loins Of London wrote:Is it 'cos he is half-black?alig wrote:Barry Hussein Obama would be a no-name no-brainer. Name me on other country on earth that would dare face off with Iran or North Korea or that didn't hesitate for a second to invade Afghanistan to rid people of the taliban.Time and time again, the US had to save the oh-so civilized Europeans from Communism and Hitler, from WW1 and WW2. Not to mention the civil war in Yugoslavia. Whine about the US as much as you like, but the fact remains that the USA are the world's no1 economy and military force. Without them, we would still be having it out with Hitler's and Stalin's followers. As for Ken "Red" Livingstone: Good riddance. Under his rule London has become a hell on earth.

Um, the Taliban had been in power for five years before US troops set foot in the country. And the action was only ordered because of 9/11, so it was/is basically an act of revenge.

This sort of sentence sums up the nonsensical garbage you come out with. That is like saying, "the Pacific Ocean may not be the biggest ocean in the world but it is closest to that title."alig wrote: The US may not be the greatest country on earth, but they are the closest to that title.
For f*** sake, either it is or it isn't.

you have a person saying the US is the greatest country on earth, ...well, what are he talking about? possibly its the terminology that bothers some."greatest"
take canada. its big,its a wonderful place, great people, modern, not as much crime, never invades other countrys, its liked globally.
but nobody gives a jack about canada in foriegn policy.they dont care about who is in charge in places like that.
when it comes to countrys that are involved in world politics, countrys if we had to be fair look to what america. thats why you have people concerned about who America's presidents are. they know its policys could effect them.
if one doesnt wat to call America one the greatest in that scenario...fine,but its pretty much as alig said. closest to the title.

Every country has fair its share of people who think their country is the greatest country in the world and that everyone else is just plain wrong. Do you think the Chinese, French, British, Australians or whoever don't think their country is the best too? You are seeing things from a purely American point of view.
Canada has a population around a tenth of that of the USA. It is hardly any surprise that their economy is therefore not as large and that they are a smaller player on the global stage. I am sure plenty of Canadians believe Canada is the greatest country in the world.
For now the USA has the world's largest economy and so the rest of the world pays attention to its politics, economics and wars. Let's see what happens when China is number one in a few years' time. Think the US won't be usurped by China? Just think about how powerful Britain used to be. You only get to be imperial for a relatively short time.

but we are talking now.if someone wants to alott the term greatest to america for whatever reason, thats their right, and its not some ridiculous statement.
its most likely simply because in the league of countrys on this planet now, america is the lone superpower and is the one now that other countrys look to and thru its short history has spearheaded much global policy.
if thats not greatness,or as alig said close to the title,I dont know what country is if one were to get into some discussion of the greatest countrys existing on this planet now.
