The end of the single
I was shocked today when I went into Zavvi (formerly Virgin records) and HMV to be told they did not sell CD singles any more as a rule, just four or five of the most popular songs. How disgusting. I'm sure that the majority of the record buying public is not reflected in the downloading teen group.
I'll admit to not buying a single for a while due to lack of funds but I like to buy them every now and again.
At the end of the day I still want to be able to buy a song in it's packaging. A download is not the same.
Am I stuck in the past, or do I have a point?
More's to the point, every now and again I'd still like to buy a 12" single. Not much hope of that now.

Re: The end of the single
CD singles mostly disappeared here a year or two ago.
In fact most "record" stores have closed.
I would love to know N+C's plans are, specifically for CD singles.
I tried to raise the idea of selling CD singles thru the Pet Shop Website.
Another idea I had was for a CD single to accompany Literally.
Dont know how to get these suggestions o N+C.

To be honest I think artists like PSB, Kylie, Girls ALoud etc... will probably still sell physical formats just via official online record stores.

Well here where I live I guess everybody downloads...I now buy all my cds (singles or albums) online as all of the music shops went out of business. It's a bit sad.

Is Red Eye Records still operating in Sydney? I used to go there all the time for my vinyl/CD fix.gregf wrote:CD singles mostly disappeared here a year or two ago.

I think I recall Neil saying in the most recent Literally that they were definitely going to release all future singles on CD, no more of this "download only" business. I hope that's the case.

Ah, thanks very much! I see they've got online ordering too.
