Erasure Dont Deserve a Brit Outstanding Achievement

#1 Post by skyhigh »

I was reading some of the posts on here and their links to Erashur forums. Lots of comment about how Erasure are equally deserving. No they are not. Simply look on psb's wikipedia and see how much they have done and how diverse it is, even in the last ten years. Other comments suggest the Erashur back catalogue stands up against the psb's? No it doesnt, it pales in comparison. Also, who have erashur worked with lately? Madonna? Girls Aloud? Robbie? Bowie? Yoko? It angers me that anyone thinks a band as lazy as erashur deserves anything!! :grumble:

Agreed, I am a huge Erasure fan but their stuff is merely pale in comparison, it's just too different.

It's not even the same ball park.

It ain't even the same sport.

I hope this thread wasnt started to get Erasure fans to b*tch about this.

Erasure have achieved success commercially. Though they are even more unheard of in the Middle-east and India compared to the PSB, i still see a lot of Erasure cds/dvds in shops compared to only Disco4 and Disco2 i see available here now..

I do not know if Erasure deserves it, but they will get the award in a few years..

Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Genesis/Phil Collins, Simple Minds, George Michael, Rolling Stones, Led Zepellin, New Order, Annie Lennox and Madonna would all likely to be deemed worthy recipients by the powers-that-be well before Erasure, although, admittedly, George and the Stones have already turned it down, but then so did PSB and Macca...

(And before you ask, they'll bend the rules to include Madonna, probably because she lived here for almost a decade, just as they bent it like a ten-bob note for Irish munchkins U2 and, er, Bob Geldof.)

The only way Erasure would receive the award would be as part of a Depeche Mode/Vince Clark/Yazoo/Alison Moyet super-deal. Hmm, imagine the record company politics involved in that one.

Vince Clark deserves a reward for all he has done imho but Erasure NO WAY Ilike their stuff up to POP. But even than it isn't even close to what PSB have achieved.

I don't think they deserve it either and I also think they cannot be compared to PSB.

Erasure will surely receive one in the future, as will Depeche Mode. Vince Clarke is singularly the most deserving man in electronic music to receive one.

I'm not sure if it's good to receive one (career-wise) while you're still making music, though. Having said that, the chart performance can't get much worse for our kind of music lol.

For what though? As far as the public are concerned, Erasure dissapeared back in the early 90's. Keeping on regurgitating greatest hits packages wont work.

The only way it will happen is if they release an album that catches the publics imagination. All their albums are in the bargain bin after a week and it's not as though they do any work with anyone else.

Vince might get something but i can't see it happening with Erasure.

His charity work, probably. It certainly wasn't for his music.

Yeah because I am so hard. Just go and listen to barenaked ladies and start a topic about why they should get an award of some kind. Should make you feel better.
