On the band's official website, the biography section states that Flowers is singing "Are we human, or are we dancer?" and also says that the lyrics were inspired by a disparaging comment made by Hunter S. Thompson about how America was raising a generation of dancers.Parkol wrote:I just do not understand what it is about...

It climbed to Number 3 on the UK Charts this week. I have to say I think it's bloody awful, but I know that puts me in a minority.

Re: The Killers new single "Human"
My young nephew is almost 6, and sometimes cajoles me to showing him pictures of airplanes, his thing, on the iMac.
I enjoy it, it's cool. But I was playing the new Killers song "Human" while we were looking at airplanes , and to the interesting lyric, "Are we human/Or are we dancers?", my nephew is perceptive enough to ask - "What does that mean?" He recited it back, and honestly wanted to know- what's the difference between a human and a dancer?
I patiently explained that the Killers were asking a question in an artistic way that's hard to answer-
Hard to say, little guy!, There's no answer, but God you're sharp. Kudos to the Killers, I think that's a pretty striking lyric.
And a pretty good song.
