I too live in Surrey. At home all day
Nobody had driven down my road all day, our high street looked like this.

If we took days off because of snow here, we might as well have the year off!

Re: It Doesn't often snow....
This is what my front yard is, looking in two directions, photo taken in approx 37C/100F heat.

1. The park is in good condition this year. In the El-nino years the grass was dying
off completely with no rain during the summer months.
2. The bay, a part of Sydney harbour. I get a little breeze of the water. I am lucky.
I talk to girls with the same illness as me. They are stuck in houses baking in the suburbs,
too sick to leave. Temperature for them has been 40-48C. One said "I just lie in bed crying".
Never in my life had I experienced 40C or more until 2007. Now common. No one doubts GW here.

God that's hot! The snow and ice are melting here in sunny Hounslow. However still not many planes flying overhead from Heathrow. The Airport was brought to a standstill yesterday.

I was going take some pictures of the lovely snow today as I expected more snow to have fallen last night as forecast.
Guess what? It rained all chuffing night. It's all gone.

What's strange is that less than half a mile away above my house the snow is about 8" thick and drifted to about 4 foot in places !
Here's some pics I took after work today ...

Doesn't England usually get snow? It was on the news and stuff, what's the big deal? Southern Ontarios been getting pounded as always, every freaking night its another storm or flurry. It hasn't warmed up in weeks, so the snows been piling up and the snow banks are reducing visibility. The novelty always wears off by early January.

Re: It Doesn't often snow....
We are notoriously under-prepared for bad weather in England. Rather famously British Rail had a phrase that the trains were cancelled several years ago because of the 'wrong kind of snow' - powdery snow blowing into the working parts of the trains. We are usually getting better weather than we should in the UK because of the Gulf Stream. it's just that once in a while the bad weather blows over from Russia (in fact it decides to Go Westwhateverman42 wrote:Doesn't England usually get snow? Sleet is all we're getting here. Despite being told to expect a few inches of snow. Bah, I'd love the see my kids run around in snow for the first time.

It's still snowy here, there was some sunshine earlier but the ground is still covered. All schools were closed today so i was stuck at home with the kids. I wish it would rain and wash it all away now, i hate it
