Some of my tracks...

#1 Post by Darkmoon »

Hi, my name is Wouter and I compose tracks under the name ZeNN. I've been a Pethead since I was about twelve, I remember hearing West end girls playing on the car-radio in my parents car, and loving it imediately. The first album I bought was Please (on vinyl), the third Actually, (on tape!), which I played to death. I must have played Introspective thousands of times on my turntable and should have turned my parents into eighties-zombies, but luckily Everyone survived. I guess I have found Behaviour the most definging album shaping me musically. I remember distinctivlly having to get used to the album. Somehow it was less 'pop' then the previous albums. But as I listened to it more and more, it grew on me and it has 'actually' been one of my favorite albums ever since... That's my PSB history in a nutshell...

Anyway, here some tracks I made you might find fun to hear, (especially perhaps Winter is no season for psb fans?):

Very nice stuff :)

You're a talented producer, using nice 80s influences. Funnily enough, Behaviour is also the album for me.

It's also cool to see Röyksopp in your list of influences. I love them too. They have a new album coming up, released the same day as "Yes", called Junior. Another one, called "Senior" is up for release later this year.

Yes that is me! :)
I wrote Quest in 2003 together with about 10 trance-tunes. I met the singer at a birthdayparty, turned out she only lived a minute away from my parents. She has a fantastic voice, which is great stuff for a composer. I will be writing/producing an entire album for her in the vein of of that track later this year; a mixture of Enya, Dido, Faithless (not the housy-stuff) and a lot of electronics, arpeggios etc. Hope to be able to have some demos ready in a few months.
I've put the whole track online, so if you take another look at my myspace it'll be there, hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the nice responses. I don't believe all my friends and family understand my passion for 'the good times', that the eighties were for me musically, they think I'm stuck in that era, (which is not true). There's something irresistable about the melodies, fat synths, the production, sometimes naive lyrics that italo tracks have, and I love screaming synthsolos etc. It rules! :)

It actually is surprising that 'Behaviour' should be my fave psb album I guess. Please is much more italo-oriented, perhaps even Actually. I guess it's a perfect mix between great melodies, analogue(ish) production. The whole album is a grower, and then never leaves your brain. There's just a lot of love in that album, and you can hear it I believe.

I wish I could post more tracks on myspace, since I have a scandalous amount of tracks at my disposal which nobody ever hears.
I do have some more tunes here though if you're interested:

I'm on a laptop PC right now, so I can't really comment, but weren't you the one who did that Project X cove of "Do I Have To" or do I have you mixed up with someone else? I really liked that cover.

Hey BlueSwan,
Yes, I made a cover of Do I have to some years ago. I also made covers of Later tonight (twice), Was that what it was? (during the Introspective mailinglist for the Attribute CD under the name Project X), I'm not sacred and Screaming. Still want to do a cover of King's cross Someday.
I could post Do I have to online if it's permitted?

Darkmoon, I think your cover of Do I have to? is absolutley brilliant.

Ever since one of the fellow forum members passed it on to me, its been one of my favourite tracks on my ipod playlists. To me this is one of the tracks N&C should have had remixed years back.

Thanks once again!
