Truthfully, I would say that PSB is one of the greatest pop bands there ever will be. It may not be apparent from the bickering conversations here that often goad me into attack mode, but I have stuck up for them in many situations (amongst other pop fans, and mostly rock fans) and will continue to do so. The songs are, for the most part, meticulously crafted, the lyrics are often spectacular, and the melodies (as found on a few of even the latest leaked songs) are great.

Just because Erasure are the Olympians of pop, doesn't mean I don't frequently award the silver and bronze medal to PSB in many categories.

Try's to subtly evade the fact he's happy to sickeningly attack PSB.

I am not "try'sing" to evading anything. I'm actually being honest, and trying to make a bit of peace.

I don't think being critical of Neil's voice is a "sickening attack." At least I didn't wish death on Andy like some other forum member here - remember that one? I'd say that is just a tad more "sickening," wouldn't you?

Anyway, feel free to quote me in the years to come, as you do with my other quotes taken out of context of a hot argument. My description of PSB above is 100% honest.

And to be truthful, we're all in the same electronic pop family. Even though we argue (between you and I it's more "showbiz"), I still prefer PSB to a million other bands out there and have all of their albums (not Concrete or the latest Disco instalment), many of their singles, and even some 12"'s. Just because it's fun to take shots at each other, don't think that some things aren't said just to get a funny rise out of you. Aren't you and I supposed to "bicker"?

Maybe it was the fact that whoever said that about Andy Bell, finds what he said disgusting?

Bell is (well was) a big name in music and he comes out with a statement like that? There are people dying from this terrible disease and suffering daily. There are people in the third world who are born HIV positive, who never get any medication whatsoever and suffer a painful death. Yet you get someone glorifying contracting it!! It's disgusting behaviour.

I'm not buying this crap about retracting what he said. Whether he did or not is irrelevant. He said it, knowing exactly what he was saying.

Nobody deserves death for their opinion. Sorry, if you feel the other way.

Not you nor I know what goes through one's head when they are diagnosed with this certain disease - who knows what the emotions make you feel or think?

Andy said he made a mistake in what he said, and I'm not one to judge anyone when they say they've made a mistake.

I do see what you found disgusting about what was initially said, though, as I wasn't pleased either. Thankfully, I see my favourite bands as musical entities, and not my locals priests. I mean, let's face it, I've heard horror stories about Chris not being the nicest guy on earth but I couldn't care less since I like their music, and I definitely wouldn't keep harping on about it if Chris said something then said he misspoke.

Goldfrapp are perhaps my second favourite band of all time and I hear that Alison (and see it in some interviews) can get rather bitchy - it hasn't had any effect on my love for her music... and she's unabashedly bitchy! :D

No, i don't wish Bell to die for his opinion. I've not said that at all. I have no respect for him, though.

I always liked Erasure. But because of the ongoing and useless Erasure vs PSB debate, I'm starting to develop a certain kind of dislike. I wonder if I'm the only PSB fan with this experience.

I don't really understand what Erasure fans are looking for. Why do they constantly have to measure the achievements and output of their favourite band with everything Pet Shop Boys do? Let Erasure be Erasure (enjoy them when/while you can), let Pet Shop Boys be Pet Shop Boys.

I agree with that too.

I've read that on both sides and it's something I don't really get. Bar being gang-raped by an army of Erasure fans whilst Pop! is on a continuous loop with Andy Bell chanting 'he's the one, he's the one' in the background, there's nothing really thats going to be sway me from liking Erasure; least of all the petty squabbling of the online community.

It's hardly going to put me off for life, but it's not exactly inspiring me to put an Erasure CD on either.

Reality and fantasy, those tongues. Fundamental quite clearly was considered a "good album that ... warranted further investment in the band in any promotional/production" arena as proven by the budget (and critical acclaim) supporting a Xenomania production and a promotional backing Erasure could only dream of. It's not really open to debate no matter where you fall in the PSB vs Erasure spectrum.

Fundamental (or it's sales, or lack thereof) didn't have anything to do with Xenomania producing the follow-up. For me, it's horribly boring and uninspired - a bad album, in my opinion.
