Discography at 136. Estimated sales - 1,300

Discography has spent a total of more than 2 years in the chart now.

PopArt ;- 19-18-38-56-79-93. Estimated sales in 2009 - 42,000 (u.k)

I would love to see the stat for UK opening week sales of all studio albums.

UK/First Week Sales:
17,038 'Nightlife' (#7-October 1999).
18,008 'Release' (#7-April 2002).
26,492 'Fundamental' (#5-May 2006).

30,000 'PopArt' (#30-November 2003).

The increasing first week sales may be partly attributable to the huge evolution of Internet and the online retailers...nowadays all boys and girls over the world are drummed to death about the release dates of their favourite bands, and you can preorder it for months ahead, thus all pre-orders culminating at the high first week sales, particularly for bands with a large but rather static fan base like PSB

I remember that I had to wait for three weeks to lay my hands on Nightlife (not that the all-soul-consuming wait was worth it)...

The question: Does the total sales of each album exceed that of preceding one? Did Fundamental sell better than Release or Nightlife in the long run? If yes, then we can definitely say PSB are gaining new fans or reclaiming the old ones....Otherwise it is a self-delusion.

Did you put these stats together? Where exactly did you get them? Anyway, they're a fascinating read, thanks for providing them. I've never seen the actual sales figures for Australia before, so was pleasantly surprised to see they've had 4 platinum albums here. There are just a couple of mistakes with the Australian stats:

1) Always on my mind got to #10, not #28. It spent about 9 months on the chart and despite only getting to #10 was # 35 in the end of year chart for 1988. See here
2) Ab Fab was #2 in Australia, not New Zealand. I think I can safely say Ab Fab was definitely not #2 in NZ. Any Kiwis want to confirm that?

Not according to the stats in this thread. For the UK, Nightlife has sold 130,000 to date while Fundamental has only sold 100,000 (there are no figures for Release). At a global level it has continued to be a gradual decline (if you believe the stats in this thread) despite overall better chart placings for Fundamental. I somehow expect Yes will ultimately follow this trend and sell slightly less than Fundamental, although I'd love to proved wrong on this.
