There are new calls for Google Street View to be shut down:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7959362.stm

I thought this was interesting:

Since Street View launched in the UK on 19 March, PI has been contacted by many people identifiable via the service. Among them were a woman who had moved house to escape a violent partner but who was recognisable outside her new home on Street View.

Not everyone who doesn't want to be identified has done something wrong...

Apparently the actual shop no longer exists. I read this thread on Popjustice's twitter yesterday:

Going down Kings Road on the bus. Does anyone know where this so-called 'electronics shop' PSB met in was?

To clarify I know it's not there any more but what is it now? Good God this bus is taking forever. I want to cry :(

It could've happened here. http://twitpic.com/2gj1m

To which @petshopboys replies:

But it didn't. It was further up the Kings Road on the other side.

Google say that anyone who doesn't wish to be seen on Streetview can ask to be removed.

Can they explain how I can find every instance of me on their service when I have no idea when or where their photographs were taken?

If you think £34.00 for a mirror is dear then you've got no idea. I don't know what you've bought, but on certain BMW models the glass alone is over £200.

BMW's windscreens are made of an advanced technology that is very expensive to produce and is limited to their models. What is this called? Errr.... I'm sure I can remember it.... mmmm... crystal?
Do I have to?

I hate to break it to those who are against google earth. they better brace themselves because the natural progression will be alot worse.

cant you just see how it will go? first all you had was map quest style to and from maps. then came google earth with zooming in pictures. then came google streetview where you could zoom in to the actual street and sort of click your way down streets.

it totally makes sense the coming years there will be a way to actually walk in real time own streets in virtual reality and even enter certain buildings and supermarkets and see if what you want is there before you actually go there.

Yes, next time they're zooming into your house and bedroom and everyone
can see you sleeping or doing whatever.

well obviously it would be for places, or stores or businesses that would use it to drum up business.thats sure to be the natural progression. if you can zoom in to street level, virtual tours of certain stores/builings is next.

My mobility is limited and if going somewhere,
I need to plan out...how many steps...how far to walk,
and avoid worrying about it all before hand.

So Google street view is great. I can just look up the address
and work out my plan, with much less worry. Brilliant.
