Even if it was top ten in Brigadoon, it's still shit. Sorry but these are not good songs.markus wrote: The winning song might just actually become a hit outside of the ESC fan circle, it already is top 10 in Sweden.

What a victory for Norway! And do you know it's their National Day today, May 17th, "syttende mai".
I think it was a very strong contest this year, with many good songs. My favourites were Iceland, Bosnia, Estonia and Albania. Yes, I liked Norway's winning song too. "I'm in looooooove with a fairytaaaale..."
Malena Ernman did a great performance, but Europe wasn't ready for opera pop yet...
Also, UK's Warren-Webber tune wasn't too bad, Jade sang it well, and it finished at a surprisingly high position. Nice to see Sir Webber himself at the piano!

Not much of it. What i saw and heard, was the same garbage we get every year. It wasn't very good. It never is. All it is, is a tradition.
How many of these songs will you, or anyone else, be listening to in a few months time?

I have actually been listening to the winning song for months. I Really like it. You're right, most of the songs are forgettable, but there are some gems every year IMO. They just need a few listenings to start growing on you. And some really good artists. Like french Patricia Kaas, a real superstar, I've seen her live. She gave an amazing performance.Undertaker wrote:Not much of it. What i saw and heard, was the same garbage we get every year. It wasn't very good. It never is. All it is, is a tradition.

I guess there is a few good tracks if you have the patience to give them further listens but those taking part have ages to come up with something good and still, most of them fail.

I hope Norton`s commentary that "the foxy lead singer" from Romania "could have been lip-syncing" is just a joke! The "lone figure seen in shadows" was a backing vocal, of course - her voice sounded clearly different from Elena`s; I don`t know why she stood there and not in the front - I suppose it had something to do with not interferring with the dance routine.
Poor Elena - she shouldn`t accept to sing such a cheap song in the first place. Her own style is Latino oriented, almost Salsa (actually, she had never sung in English before), and now this "Oriental", "Balkanic" (?? - Romania is NOT a Balkanic country) act with poor lyrics written in a bad English. And what is even more sad, is that much worse songs in the competition(the one from Greece, for example
) got more points!
Congratulations Norway. All in all, the show was much better than in other years. A true European happy, get-together experience.

No offence, but the show was made last night mostly by the Easterners...! IMO, from the Western Europe, the only entertaining acts were those from Norway, Germany, and Iceland.
