Naming audio tracks / MP3 tags

#1 Post by StevePSB »

Why, when you download the track names to save you typing them in, do people always enter them like this? - It Is Very Annoying To Have To Remove All The Unneccesary Capital Letters.

Sometimes you get a bit of this - Which is probably More Annoying still.

Just an observation. ;)

I never enter titles with caps (except for the first word and names of course). Mostly because it looks stupid and it's annoying having to press the caps button for every word, but also because I'm used to not capitalize song titles as we don't do that in Swedish. Another great reason for not doing it: Pet Shop Boys don't! Look at their album covers and you'll see for example "All over the world" and not "All Over The World". :D

On the other hand, I don't bother to change the titles if they are already entered with caps.
But I really wonder why people even bother with Pressing The Caps Button For Every Word They Write, as the typing is much easier and quicker if you don't!

I've just (re) encoded my entire PSB album collection to MP3 and nearly every disc brought up from freedb Was Like This, or Was like This. Quite boring removing all the caps, but it's done now. :)

I definitely prefer capitalized song titles.

You should use Tag & Rename for that purpose, Steve. You can batch change tags by for example Capitalizing Every Letter, or Every first letter. And a lot of other nice features.

And yeah, I prefer capitalized titles. Not in Swedish, though.

I capitalize song titles, but additional info is not, for example:

West End Girls (12" remix)
Always On My Mind (instrumental 7" version)
I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing (DJ Pierre 8½ minutes of sonic diarrhea remix)

I Always Capitalize Song Titles - It Looks A Lot Cleaner.

I HATE it when everything_reads_like_this.mp3 - almost-as-much-as-i-hate-this and iTunes....

I agree about underscored_titles. Really annoying! In those cases I often rename the tracks - un-capitalized of course!

Interesting!
I do my songs like, "I don't know what you want but I can't give it anymore" and "Go West".
Good point. Thought I were the only one.
You gotta have fun!

I do, "West End girls (12 inch remix)"
"Always on my mind (Instrumental 7 inch version)"
"I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing (DJ Pierre eight and a half minutes of sonic diarrhea remix)" (MP3 Tag might be in full though. Some files won't play if they have really long names).
You gotta have fun!

You do them remarkably similar to me. I use double ' to make an " sign in a file name though. Crappy Windoze doesn't let you use " in a file name.
