It seems that way with a lot of people (and I don't just mean this forum). Short memories.
Unless there's a miracle and Labour suddenly become popular again before next election, I hope people enjoy the subsequent consequences of voting the Tories in again.

nobody knows if the Tories will be any better/worse and I have no love for them but Labour have had one chance too many, the arrogance and conceit will only get worse if re-elected, as they will view it as a public too dumb and weak to kick them out of office. If the Tories are shit vote them out at the next election, that's how democracy works (at least theoretically). Labour supporters who carry on making excuses for this bunch of crooks are the same as someone who sticks by their partner who's cheated on them 20 times but has promised that it won't happen again, luv. The expenses thing stinks, don't get me wrong on that one - I think they're all despicable for getting involved, but it's not surprising they all did because it was basically a free for all on free money and they all thought the details would never get out. I can't quite get my head around why anyone might like to punish Labour on that by voting Tory though. The Tory politicians have had their snout in the trough as much, if not more than Labour politicians.
The current economic climate is also mostly well out of the control of our Government, it's worldwide, but again, people have punished Labour for it. Saving the banks and guaranteeing individuals savings? Yes, very expensive and we are going to be paying for it for a while, but also very necessary.
Yes, there's the crap with Iraq which was entered into on the basis of things that didn't actually exist. That was a mistake, and there's no getting around that.
Personally, I can't think of anything outside of those issues that has really affected me adversely. Fuel prices, yes, annoying, but expected and will always be an issue whoever is in Government.
People are forgetting all the good that has been done since 1997. The masses of extra money into the NHS, vastly reduced hospital waiting times, more money for schools, the minumum wage... All good things that would never have happened if the Tories remained in power. Policies for real people, not policies for the rich at the expense of everyone else as we'd had before - remember the Poll tax? That's the real colours of the Tories and I'm afraid I can't believe they'd be any different if they got back in. Cameron has spent his entire leadership so far attacking Labour whilst not actually spelling out his own policies. Look at the other day for example when they let slip the cuts in spending they're planning, then hastily realised they shouldn't have let that one out of the bag and tried to back track. They haven't got anything good to say, and are trying to keep quiet on the pain they will inflict hoping that things stay the same in the current economic climate so that they might win the next election by default.
I know I sound biased, but I remember the mess the Tories left the country in and I remember their relentless crushing of the little man whilst the rich looked on and laughed under their policies. I just wish everyone wasn't so blinded by current problems that they don't remember what it was like before.

What winds me up is the way all these spongers can keep having kids, yet both sit on their arse all day watching Jeremy Kyle, while bleeding the country dry. Grown men refusing to work, or doing 20 hours a week, so they 'earn' more in benefits. There are some single parents out there with kids who still have their pride and manage to go to work. Yet you get couples doing f*** all all and getting more money than the people that go out and earn a wage.

The whole benefits system needs to be reformed to prevent career dole-scroungers, or at least make it much harder to be one.

Totally agree. How about making these long term doley's go out and clean the streets and tidy the Parks up for 10 - 20 hours a week. Also, i bet there are thousands of people claiming incapacity benefits, when there isn't a lot wrong with them. There are jobs for most people. Even if you struggle to do physical work, there is no stopping you doing something at a desk.

There are around 3 million people claiming incapacity benefit in the UK at the moment!
I think the whole system's a complete joke. I need a summer job because I'm doing a Master's in September, and there are vacancies in the government offices near where I live. Only thing is you need an up-to-date CRB check which normally takes about 4-6 weeks to get for some reason. So despite not having a criminal record, I can't be employed there. Genius.

I know someone who is getting benefits because she suffers from 'Nerves' doesn't stop her going to the pub every day or cycling to do an undeclared job
