Of course it is a tragedy, but this forum is about the music of the PEt Shop Boys, NOTHING ELSE!

Here here Pet Shop Boys aren't politicians they are musicians and entertainers, I don't believe that you should hang on to every word they say, they have their own opinions and probably want to keep them to themselves. What has happened in Spain is a great tragedy by heartless insane terrorists, they don't deserve the attention they are getting. Neil & Chris need to carry on with producing great music to give us something to look forward to numb our minds of this evil. My heart goes out to all who's victims involved but Pet Shop Boys are Pet Shop Boys, nothing else; just cool musicians, that is why we are here.

What happened in Madrid is a TERRIBLE thing....everyone knows that and I have a young friend who lives very near that area, BUT you cannot expect the Pet Shop Boys to comment on every Tragic event and disaster that happens on this Earth !! They probably have their own Private thoughts and feelings about this and I'm sure....like the rest of us their hearts go out to all the victims families. Any FAN can presume this.....they should not expect them to have to come out openly and SAY it !

I think it's quite a good question.

I think they don't say anything because their opinion on this event, or on any such event, does not matter. They are songwriters. We should not care what they think about this. It is irrelevant to what they do. Infact, for them to comment would trivialise the event. PSB operate in a world of showbusiness and in a world of art - for them to bring such a terrible event into their arena would trivialise the feelings involved - the feelings of those that have lost people, the feelings of PSB, and the feelings of us, their fans. I do not want to see PSB feel they have to pass comment on each and every human tragedy. I would not value their opinionn on the matter - they are just normal people. If they have any reaction, it would be just that that a normal person would have - outrage, sympathy, shock.

In defence of Satanas I can understand she wants to be comforted by the ones she love. She love PSB so she would like to hear something from them.
But if she would think about it just for a minute, and in times like this that is not so easy, she would see that not many, if any, pop/rockstars (outside of spain) have spoken out about it. And there is no reason what so ever for them to do so. They feel the same about it as you and me and any other "normal" humanbeing. I feel this is a teribble tragady on the same level as what happend in NY on 9/11. Nevertheless there is no need to feel bad about the fact PSB didn't react on it, believe me they feel teribble about acts like this anywhere in the world.

I am at a loss to understand exactly what it is S believes that Neil and Chris could say about this event that could either sum up the senseless tragedy or provide some succour to the families of the victims. Would they able to offer some searing insight, some aposite soundbite or simply say something relevant to the situation? No.
Given the plethora of verb whores ready to troll their opinions to the nearest ready microphone, I quite respect the fact that Neil and Chris don't. And didn't they refer to such behaviour in " How Can You....."

Well, first of all, I understand this is a PSB forum but, anyway, it doesn't matter if someone wants to talk about this last terrorist attack. Also she is talking about PSB too, at the same time. I understand PSB are songwritters, I would like them to say something about this terrorist attack but it doesn't matter if they don't do it because they are not politics. Anyway, what can they say?. We are sure they are against this terrorist attack and they feel sorry for all the victims. Probably, they are not going to do anything like talking in the news section about it but I'm almost sure if you make a question in the official site, about their opinion of this tragedy, it's going to be answered.

Flaffer- when was that bomb in Warrington? Was that recent? I was up there once for a reason i have since forgotten and cant see the point for blowing something up there- maybe it would be a good thing I DO remember seeing that big hole in the middle of Manchester though back in '97 when they were putting the city centre back together after '96.

Whilst we all feel deeply sickened by the events in Spain, and I'm sure PSB privately feel the same way, it isn't their place to comment in public on such matters, hence as you'd expect they haven't made a statement.

You are probably more likely to die in a train crash in england than a terrorist bomb. The IRA, if they do get back in business, which i cant believe they would now, usually warn people anyway ( happened to me once!). You are more likely to win the lottery than be killed by a terrorist. But why live in fear? You cant alter the possibility of being in the wrong place at the wrong time as these people were. Fact of life.

My opinion is that no public figure, other than the Government, should need to make any comment on such matters. It is not their job to do so, Pop and Film stars are there to entertain us and take our minds away from the real horrors of life!

For one thing if all popstars made a comment, then all it does is draw more attention to those who are gut-less enough to act as terrorists! Making all this fuss, whether here or in the newspapers and on TV ONLY makes martyrs, heros and heroines of these attrocious people called Terrorists!

the bomb in Warrington was 97/98 I think - The 'real IRA' planted a bomb in the high street in a dustbin designed to go off at a time a time when the streets would be very crowded, I think 27/28 innocent people people were killed and many more injured.
