I dont understand the US version, I watched it and didnt laugh once...where was the humour? Their equivalent of David Brent just isnt as good, I dont get it! Pam annoyed me too, the character's werent realistic. Maybe I chose a poor episode to watch but it put me off none the less. I'll stick to the original.
Frasier is the only US comedy I truely like, and find hilarious (the early few series especially). It has a quality to it that other US comedies dont.

They are not supposed to be. There is an element of reality, yes, such as not having a laugh track, and Michael's continual flubs. But there is a gonzo element as well.

If you've only watched one episode, I really would not judge it on that. Especially when you are already biased to prefer the UK version.

If they're not supposed to be doesnt it defeat the objective? It's meant to be a 'mockumentary' of the workplace..or at least, the UK version was.
Not having a laughter track doesnt make it more realistic, it just makes it harder to know which bits are meant to be funny.
Nah, it's not for me..I could just tell.

the UK version wasnt even funny in the comedy sense. especially that second season. that was dryer than my girlfriends lamb chops. yeah it was witty and intelligent but I spent the whole second season feeling embarrased on behalf of some of the situations those characters got themselves into rather than laughing.

and unrealistic, of course. theres no way a david brent,michael scott,dwight shrutt or gareth keenan exist. those are by the numbers fantasy written characters.

but I giv you credit for liking frasier. thats one of the best writtn series since seinfeld.

Especially if you watched from the first season! That was six episodes of awful. I remember even being on a forum and talking about what a monstorsity the show was. I think I got back into the show by watching a few of the second episode seasons, but renting the entire set when it came out (right before the third season debuted on TV). Try watching it again (although I would say this current season isn't great).
