Re: Football Season 09-10/2010 World Cup Thread
Liverpool did spend 40 million in the summer on two players. Aquilani was a shocker of a buy. He might be a good player but he's never fit to judge him. He's always been injured.
I think Liverpool set up too negative. The keeper, Mascherano, Gerrard and Torres would get into most teams, although Gerrard has been really poor this season. Did he play well today? I've not seen the game.

Gerrard has been bad this season, yeah. He doesn't look happy for whatever reason.
We did spend £40m in the summer, but we brought more than that in in player sales. I think our net spend over the last 4 seasons has been £1m a year ie about what you would expect of a League One side. All the money goes to service the debt, which grows by £1m in interest every 9 days.

Crikey! That's one to remember for whoever was there. Especially as Hibs were 6-2 up last I looked...

Football has to be the one entertainment where you sit there for 2 hours shitting it. Spurs were immense tonight. Tactically, Redknapp has us set up perfectly. The best organised team we have had for 25 years and also one of the most attacking and exciting spurs sides i've seen. We also seem to win properly. Theres no cheating our way through games and no manager tantrums after every defeat and no players coming out saying everything is a ''f*** disgwace.''Patrick Bateman wrote:Well done Spurs.Undertaker wrote:Yeah we have them next Wednesady at their place. 'Their' keeper did have a good game. He was their best player. Good job that didn't cost us. It's still amazing that a club with 7 keepers are allowed to loan players whenever they like but money talks.

Yep, superb game last night, especially for the neutral fans, I had some of the French footie on at the same time with Marseille going for and winning the title but you just cannot beat a Premier league game like that!! Made the French game look like a training game to be honest.
Well done Spurs though and I'm happy for Harry Redknapp. Spurs play a fast flowing attacking game which is what the game is all about. Let's hope they get through the qualifying stage!

It was massive for us because it can only get harder as seasons go on, especially with Man City having a bottomless pit of cash.
It will probably be a tough draw to qualify but thats why you want to be in the big competitions. Spurs need 1 or 2 better strikers and some expereince.
Danny, any truth in Torres going to Chelsea for 70 million? With the state of the clubs finances, it wouldn't surprise me if the croks that own it, flog Gerrard as well.
