Have you not seen our keepers over the past 5 years? They make a habit of doing that. Not good enough. you have to have a top keeper.
You have Rooney and 5-6 super players... USA has... nothing, their goalkeeper was the only one really fantastic player in their team. He saved a lot of balls.

That will be very strange if USA will be in 1/4... really strange. USA doesn't love football as we all do... They love baseball or American football much more.

I still think that's good Russia doesn't play in Africa - no nerves, no comments...

Yesterday I watched how English goalkeeper was sad... That was hurt. He is a good guy, I hope he will be alright. Everyone make a mistake... everyone, even Buffon, Akinfeev, Bartez...
Sometimes you have a perfect team, but you can do nothing.

Disgraceful, and not the first time they've done that. They then followed that up with a switch to standard definition (intentional? mistake? God knows...) from 40-ish minutes in until the end of the game!

They should be banned from showing live sport.
You couldn't make that up!

The BBC is trying not to gloat:

Plus the Russian supporters won't be boiled in a pot by those wacky Africans.

At least they've got top-quality commentators like Clive 'Ronaldo' Tyldesley and pundits like Andy 'Tactics Truck' Townsend. Oh wait.....

Why does this never happen during Britain's Got Talent? The genius thing is that this was at the start of the game, and the Everton one was right at the end. That truly is dedication to incompetence.

All I can say is thank god Tyldesley wasn't commentating on the Argentina game, I don't think I could have stood the endless references to "Seba" Veron.

Actually, that's a thought... has anyone ever seen Clive Tyldesley and JSDOUVRES in the same room ;)

All top sport should be on Sky anyway. They are miles ahead of any other broadcasting channel for coverage. Although they have a few muppets commentating on football, it's still great. The Cricket coverage is brilliant, as is the Golf.

David Lloyd (Bumble) is probably the greatest commentator ever

No. The Ashes (at least) should be on terrestial television. Excellent as Sky's coverage is it means that only a small proportion of the population has access to it. That's not right; cricket is our national summer sport, and should be free-to-air. The BBC could bid for it if it didn't waste so much money on sending so many liggers to events like the World Cup and Glastonbury.

All top sporting events should be on terrestrial t.v but their coverage is crap. That's why Sky should have it because you know you wont get pissed about. Even when Snooker is on, they will cut a final frame decider because shitty Newsnight is about to start.

I'm curious how Germany will play tonight and if Klose will play. Löw has
made some strange decisions so far, imho. He should 've let play Frings
on Ballacks position ...

Yes but most people have the red button now (even though there is only one channel on Freeview now because of the BBC HD channel).

I've watched the England game again and it's pretty clear that there isn't much of a game plan. No pattern of play at all when it went 1-1, which tells us the players still don't have the bottle. No point panicking when someone scores against you.

Capello has done very little wrong so far but the Milner selection was piss poor. Joe Cole has to play and you can't have Carragher loose. Although Upson and Dawson are hardly whippits.

For me, Lampard is the biggest problem. He cannot pass at all. He just runs around blasting the ball at goal and bottles every challenge. A crap player that is made to look good by teams like Wigan.

I've always preferred Cole to Lampard. For all his goals he's a fairly nondescript player; a tubby David Platt.

Cole'll be a brilliant replacement for Fabregas.
