GM's been fighting with record companies ever since 1983! To say that that is a recent development is absurd!

The Wham! contract is one of the worst contracts ever made in the history of pop, so I can't blame him for wanting to contest that in court. It's the latter court battles that I find baffling. Surely his contracts were no worse than anyone elses? Surely he should have learned from the Wham! fiasco and negotiated himself better solo deals? And if all contracts with large companies are rotten, why has he so far insisted on releasing his albums through major record labels?
