Does it? You are not thinking of 'West End Sunglasses' are you? ;-)
Wow, right. Those are the same songs pretty much.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Alison Moyet, Whispering your name - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwY_9KUVoVk

There was some song on a Saint Etienne Christmas CD around 2003, but I've forgotten the name of it. Sounded very PSB.
I would like to thank you for mentioning prefab sprouts. while I cant say they sound like PSB,after sampling them, I have bought like 5 songs.they have some fantastic gems spread thruought their career.

"whoever you are" sounds like one of the most romantic songs the PSB never wrote.

The Moyat song sounds Noel Cowardy. I never got into her stuff much, partly due to not liking the vocals, but this is pretty good. This also sounds more 1994 Sparks than PSB.
It has been mentioned on the forum before, but it is worth noting here that the Boys may have remixed Moyet's Whispering your name!

The beginning of Sub-culture by New Order (before the vocals come in) reminds me of 80's PSB a bit.
It makes me think of their early tv performances, I can picture Chris miming to it on keyboard.

Did Sparks album come out before or after Very and when did they record? I really wonder if there wasn't some influence.
Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins by Sparks was released in November 1994, after an absence from the music industry of 5–6 years.

A nice cartoon from 1990, after Ron and Russell have had a row (in the cartoon). it is credited to x.lorente and Fred Popster

Interestingly enough Sparks have mentioned these people in their lyrics as have PSB:

Bing Crosby
Caesar
Madonna
Elizabeth Taylor
HM Queen Elizabeth II

You think that's unfunny, try reading Fred Bassett
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.
