Great Song from Sparks

#1 Post by Very »

Pay attention to this great track. This song from 2003 is a real masterpiece. Brilliant video as well.

Probably the best song on the album, and the most "Pet Shop Boys". But, I must say, I think Sparks are in a rut. I know that critically they have been lauded in the past decade, sometimes for decent reason. But since that album in 2002, they have been doing the same thing, and it's getting stale. I don't think I've made it all the way through their recent musical about Ingmar Berman, it was just to much of the same for me. I think 2008's Creatures was their best of the 2002-2010 era though in terms of songwriting. I would love them to return to some regular song structure. But they've had their amazing periods and their fair share of crap periods. The mid 80s weren't so great to Sparks for instance. So I'm waiting this out. But this is the first time they really have stopped progressing in terms of sound, so I am a bit worried.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Either way I miss the WinMx and Audiogalexy days. I got some of my best PSB stuff then.

Lil Beethoven was pure genius, but I agree with FirthOfForth that they have failed to really make any progress after that.

I used to drive my wife nuts playing "Suburban Homeboy" all of the time.
