I think i'm going to have to get Ellie Goulding's album. I think her cover of 'Your Song' is brilliant and it's not very often you can say that about new artists especially.

If you do, get the re-released version, the extra songs are really good (especially Believe Me). It's the best album i've bought in ages.
She's probably my favourite singer/songwriter at the moment. It's refreshing to hear someone a bit different in the charts for once. She gives me hope for modern music..there are some good artists about afterall.

I've been listening to REM - Out of Time and Automatic for the People. The latter is one of the best albums ever, IMO.

Just randomly bought Mika's 2007 album at a local store on the strength of it's cover. I looked him up and it looks like this went number 1 many places in Europe and the UK, but this type of music can't break the top 100 in the US. I had never heard of him. It's pretty great. Only issue is he's sounds like to many people: Queen, Elton, S.Sisters, Robbie, Spacehog, The Darkness, Bee Gees, and others. But the songs and production are there.

Anyone have any opinions on Mika?

Isn't J-pop by defintion from Japan? Wouldn't it be K-pop? OR maybe more specifically SK-pop or the very rare NK-pop?

ah.....now I get it.I probably just saw the j-pop tag somewhere in related videos and assumed thats what they were calling it.so yeah, its probably k-pop. not that it helps me any. I dont know what they are singing about. even the subtitled ones are usually korean to chinese rather than english.
