There are just so many of these but these are the ones that spring to mind at the moment: (I agree with all the ones posted so far too.)

-My favourite is possibly these lines combined with the little instrumental flourishes in the very exciitng end section of Left to My Own Devices:

"Picks up news about the sun and the working day has just begun..."
"He reads about a new device and takes to the stage in a secret life..."

-"Back to Trafalgar, one kiss, then I'll goooo....." followed by the key change in Up Against It.

-In To Step Aside, the ascending scale leading into the (also amazing) middle eight. I remember this moment being mentioned on Wayne's site. These kinds of scales are a recurring occurence in their music, I've realised. There's another one in the intro of Left to My Own Devices and a descending one leading into the chorus of DJ Culture (and possibly others I haven't thought of too.)
CroMagnon wrote:It couldn't happen here - the build up to the final chorus (about 3:40 in)

The way it used to be - the synth and piano stuff leading into the duet section ("What is left of love" etc.)

This must be the place - "I'm listening to the words I thought I'd never hear again" into the final verse.
These are all middle eights, I think. I also remember noting a little while back that as well their trademark brilliant intros, they also have brilliant middle eights a lot of the time.

Agreed. And the middle bit in that song is awesome too. .I don't need any more in my life...'
Me and my friend like the way it goes "Was that what it was? Was that what it was?"

I agree with Ellie's Up Against It call.

The achingly beautiful "oh baby do you remember,he's been through all this before, spent the summer getting nowhere" from Birthday Boy. Specifically at 4m 25s

Too many to mention, but I always enjoy the refrain "..such a cold winter, with scenes as slow as Pinter..". A massively underrated song.

    Oh what fun!

"....ghost of myself getting it on with you"

The brass bits or the du, du, du, du, du, du in Always on my mind especially on introspective when it finally comes back in

The drum at start of Paninaro

"all night long and the neighbors are talking"

Intro to I want a lover and one more chance. One more chance in general to be honest.

God I hate typing on my iPhone. So so many.

I think I always know everything's ok when I hear the little drum bit at the start of Rent

Intro to For Your Own Good.

Yeah the brass bits on Always on my mind are probably the most universal of their ecstatic moments.

"I Made My Excuses And Left" around 3 mins in. The song has been slowly building. Cue sweeping strings and sadness. It still sends a shiver down the spine.

A mate went to the theatre last night and they played It's a Sin. "Still sounds as good today as it did then" say he. I don't know what the play was.
