That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

Very patchy opening ceremony !

The industrial revolution bit was grim, but such awesome staging and that music was mind blowing ! esp that whistle bit..does anyone have an mp3 of this :)

The musical segment was a bit of a let down..great upto the 70s..but the whole 80s synth wave was not showcased well..but the New Order was expected, Relax (was not)...hurrying into prodigy and ofcourse Underworld. Not sure if Dizzy Rascal was representative of the 00s ?!

love the queen-bond skydiving bit and ofcourse mr. bean was mildly amusing !
Left to my own devices, I probably would...

The whistling bit was annoying. I love Kenneth Branagh, he is fabulous! And the bit with the queen and James Bond was the best! THe fire works was awesome, other than that, not into the country to industrial bit and the bit with the young girl and guy. That made no sense and had nothing to do with the opening ceremony.

I wish I cold have watched live, but it was 5am here.

If you're in the UK and a bit cynical, I suggest give the olympics a chance.

I experienced the Sydney2000 games and it was uplifting and wonderful.

You go thru withdrawal afterwards.

Just as long as there aren't traffic issues between home and work I'm happy. I have to drive right past the 'City of Coventry stadium' (ordinarily the Ricoh Arena), but happily, so far there's been no issues despite the multitude of electronic 'avoid A444 during Olympics' signs that have gone up.

I thought the ceremony was interesting, and quite fun but a bit disjointed. I won't be taking much notice of the games themselves though.

I enjoyed most of it, especially the Industrial revolution bit with the stirring new dance tune by Underworld. I think Boyle threw a few crowd pleasers in for the proles, such as the Queen and Bond and even Macca. I loved that there was no Adele, Spice Girls and Take That stuff to lower the tone. And anyway, Barlow had his brown nose moment.

The Brookside lesbian kiss was a nice touch as was the Michael Fish excerpt, and while many international audiences might have not got some of the references, it was far less pompous and more humourous and spectacular than most opening cermonies. It generally went down well in the UK and seemed to only annoy a few faces that look like slapped arses (ie The Daily Mail).

Mr Bean was mildy amusing. However the gag on the beach misfired when he didn't appear in his characteristic Mini.

So glad we didn't get Corden, Brand, Walliams and the cream of British arseholes. Although we did get Racal, coz ees bonkas. So I guess you can't have everything.

The womens road race is quite gripping. Britain should get a medal here.

Yup, it's been some really fantastic coverage so far. :D

It's on every morning this week from 8.55am til 1pm, and then 2.55pm until 6pm.

Get yourself down your local club and have a go!

I was on the UK team for 2 years when I was 17 to 18, took a break for about 14 years and got back into it again. It's really strange as I seem to be shooting better now!

I used to have a £1.50 bow and arrow :(

The rowing was quite gripping earlier. Those two girls are worthy and deserved gold medalists. Not an ego in sight
