MTV, YouTube and the Music Video

I just watched an interview with four of the original five MTV (US) VJ's on Howard Stern. One of them (Nina Blackwood, IIRC) bemoaned the fact that MTV (US) no longer plays music videos. I've long thought that YouTube has made music video channels like MTV obsolete because you can watch, with some exceptions (e.g. country blocking), any video you want anytime you want to. You don't have to watch MTV in the hope that they'll play the video(s) you want to see. What do you think?
