I am really glad DP will be on the top. Discovery is one of the best albums for last 15 years. I don't think Get Lucky is better than One More Time or Something About Us, but they deserve a lot of awards. I am sure Random Access Memories is the most important album of the year.

Homework is far superior than Discovery IMO.

Daft Punk release this teaser of their new LP and the song looks like a little our big hit in the USSR.

That's the understatement of the century, Drico. I've listened to it twice all the way through and it's boring, pretentious and, most importantly, devoid of great tunes (except for Get Lucky and Fragments of Time). Maybe it's a grower, but right now I'm very disappointed.

The album could be DP's first fully listenable record. On all of their previous albums, I felt the need to skip many tracks, but in this one all the songs have been well-crafted and made into one cohesive effort. Very romantic, actually.

agreed

I didnt expect this at all..Those looking fwd to club ready stuff along the likes of homework or discovery are going to find none ! It is pretty much sublime/downtempo but contains enough experimental and unexpected uptempo flourishes, which will please the fans! Wonder if this was some statement against the cookie cutter dance scene of today ?

The standouts for me were..

Motherboard (tough to describe this instrumental..loads of strange sounds and rhythm meshed into a something quite spooky)

Giorgio by Moroder (It's huge !! awesome hearing the great G being nostalgic about his work and something akin to his Chase meandering on and just when you go 'is this it?'..suddenly moves into overdrive, with their trademark scratching and chaos)

Touch (Had no idea that Paul Williams was a legend  mellow electronica soundscapes segues into bits of funky disco and slows down again. The vocals (esp the chorus) reminded me of Elysium's Hold On ? This is a fairly unusual/complex sounding track imo

Contact - Astronaut talk over bleeps and beats and then that crazy ass synth line/distortion takes off which will screw your head and kick your stomach in ! Overwhelming..I had to take a huge breath once this ended

Beyond - for those first 40 odd seconds :)
Left to my own devices, I probably would...

I should have posted it here instead on the main page but I'll do it here as well.
New Daft Punk album = underproduced, 70's-disco tribute, without the hooks
To quote PE: "Don't believe the hype." I didn't expect new One More Time, Aerodynamic or Music Sounds Better With You (which I know was made by a half of Daft Punk), but this isn't even in the same ballpark.

Sad news but that made me realise that my favourite song by DP (only DP song I like), they didn't even sing on it but got someone else. Do they actually sing on any song of theres?

:(

His own release "Bring You Up" has served me well over the years and never fails to get people dancing.

I think it's inevitable to have disappointment in a situation like this; when a group hasn't released a non-soundtrack album since 2005. If they had released even one album since then it might have helped the reception of this album a little, but people got hungry for DP and for something new to sink their teeth into.

get lucky is the high point of the album and even it's not that great.
