A question about Screaming

#1 Post by daveid »

I remember years ago reading that when this was first released in 1998 on the Psycho soundtrack that it was a different mix to the one that ended up on the I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more single.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yes I'm sure they are different but it has been so long since I listened to them I can't remember the specifics.

The biggest difference is that on the Psycho version there are voice samples taken from the movie dialogs on the instrumental breakdown. On the I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more single version all that samples were removed.

it isn't really is it. I don't even know how it goes, yet it's on Format. Completely overshadowed by Ghost of Myself, that I disliked when i first heard, but LOVE now.

I still don't like TGOM. The Nightlife era is definitely their weakest when it comes to b sides.

Having just listened to both versions it's the other way round, the Psycho version is missing the voice samples in the instrumental breakdown starting around 2:40. As far as I can tell that is the only difference between the 2 versions though.

I like the verses of it, dislike the chorus. Certainly not one of their best.

It may just be my ears but whilst both versions are pretty similar the soundtrack album version sounds somehow sonically 'narrower', not as CinemaScope as it were.
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing
