Re: Erasure at 30
This is excellent, Erasure pleasing the fans again, I can see that for the people that don't like them this is not popular but for the fans and collectors this is excellent news.
I like it that they are re-releasing things, lots of artists do it and they are far from alone it that respect. I am a big fan of remixes too so am looking forward to that and remastered and reissued vinyl is something good too.
I personally wish that PSB would do this or something similar, the CD singles boxset would be incredibly popular with the fans and it is a shame that up to this point it hasn't happened. I'd like modern remixes done of the classics too, some don't like this but I enjoy remixes and a new remix of Domino Dancing or It's a sin would be brilliant as far as I'm concerned.
There have been lots of arguments and opinions previously about releases such as this but as a fan and collector and as somebody with plenty of disposable income I hate waiting years between releases and want as much released as possible! The previous Erasure re issues have been popular enough as limited editions and I have no reason to think these releases will be any different.
At the end of the day it is a choice, if you don't want to buy it fine but there are plenty of others that will!

The new version of "Sometimes" barely sounds any different to the original!

I haven't heard it, but that reminds me of my feelings about some of New Order's "94" mixes that appeared on (The Best Of). Only Bizarre Love Triangle 94 was in any way noteworthy...

Re: Erasure at 30
A bit disappointing with the track listing for the 3cd set, not many new remixes there. A bit like Depeche Modes remix albums. Good collection I just would have liked more new stuff! True that the new mix of Sometimes is hardly different than the original, what was the point in that? A bit like Always 2009! At least the Hamburg mix of Who needs love like that from 1992 sounded different!
I'll still be buying this of course and will definitely be getting the remastered vinyl releases.

Good as time as any to start investing in Erasure.

What a superb metaphor for Erasure's progression as artists over the last three decades.Gary1962 wrote:The new version of "Sometimes" barely sounds any different to the original!

Some good ideas here, especially the 3cd greatest hits but its a bit of a dampener when they've already released so many GH packages before now. They must rival Elvis and Rod Stewart.
I'd have liked to have heard a new version of Blue Savannah. The rehash of A Little Respect was good but i hate Sometimes. Its so boring.

Pet shop boys aren't with a major label anymore so we'll never see anything like this. It'll be three year without a release by the time we get the new album
