I have tried removing the image, but that didn't make any difference. I can only assume it's the length of the post. Can any of the mods advise or help?
It could be the length of the post. Mind you, that never stopped some of my lengthy tomes back in the day. If you like, we could cut it in two - keep the fist half as is and paste the second half into a new post. Of course, that would split your post over two pages, but seeing as I was the first responder in this thread you could always use my response for the second half if you like to keep them together. I could just paste it in there over my needless guff.

Drico.

PS You could open a new thread, too, actually, and split it in two. I could then get out the old "Merginator" and split the responses from this thread from the original post and move them over to your new thread. Decisions, decisions...
Thanks Drico - it doesn’t seem to be causing people problems so I will leave it. Thanks for the offer of help.

To me, Neil has been "old" since I learned the bitter truth that he was 36 instead of 31 around the time of the Literally book. I think they had a thing going about their ages in the early years where they would lop off about four years each. That kind of fell apart when Neil turned middle-aged "overnight" in 1990. So, to this teenager, Neil was ancient by the time of Behaviour.

However, now that you say he's about to turn 64, one wonders just how creative they can be at this stage of their lives - and how much we demand of them. Our unreasonableness is testament to their amazing ability to continually captivate us. Thing is, 64 is relatively young these days. There's life in the old dogs yet.

Funny, just read that quote in 'literally' book.
Monday, 10 July

We meet in the lobby at 7.30am. Becker has won the tennis final
and Ivan tells me that the British chart position is number five. Neil
appears, then Chris, who gives him a present and a card with ‘my
usual kind of droll witty useless remarks inside’. He apologizes.

‘Oh Chanel, hello,’ says Neil opening the present.

‘The packaging is a triumph over content,’ defers Chris.

‘So it should be,’ says Neil. ‘This is the eighties.’

We get in a car.

‘I’m officially middle-aged now,’ Neil sighs. He is thirty-
five today. ‘It had to happen. You can’t be a teenager for-
ever.’

‘I don’t know,’ says Chris, adding, sarcastically, ‘how old is
Mick Jagger?’

‘Put the air-conditioning on “mega”, please,’ asks Neil.

‘That’s what the controls should say,’ says Chris. ‘From
“bugger all” to “mega”.’

It is only now, on our way to the train station, that he
bothers to ask, ‘What is the chart position?’

‘Five,’ says Neil.

‘Who said it would be number five? Told you,’ says Chris,
more or less triumphantly.

A great interview and a pleasure to read. Thanks so much for your work on this, and the great questions people asked.I for one am excited about a new Stuart Price produced album. I would so love to hear other versions or demos from the Behaviour sessions, doesn't sound likely does it?

Behaviour is a very special album for me. It was a moment of growing up and it soundtracked that period and beyond. I still reach for that album every year as the trees start to turn golden and the nights draw in. The perfect autumnal record.

But for all of those reasons I wouldn't want them to work with Harold Faltermeyer again. It was a moment in time. And they should leave it at that.

As for the discussion about Neil's age, yes on one level 63 does seem old. He's got 25 years on me in any case! But one of the appeals of PSB has been that Neil has always been a bit older. There's a maturity to what they sing about and I personally have found that Neil will write songs about things that I am yet to experience in life. But in time I do and then I properly understand what those songs were about. So in that sense the songs continue to reveal themselves to me over the years. I went to a party before Christmas where I was the oldest person by about ten years. I was only there briefly for work reasons but looking around the room at these twenty somethings partying and flirting with one another made me think of Invisible. And suddenly for the first time that song made a bit more sense.

But there's plenty of life in them yet I think. They enjoy it too much. They may well slow down in the coming years. And the touring will surely ease off soon. But as long as they remain healthy I think they will keep making records.
I'm always waiting...

To be honest, it never really occurred to me that demos were missing from the Behaviour reissue until reading the Q&A with Harold Faltermeyer. The only demo I am aware of that would fit into the Behaviour era is the one track called Living Daylights Part 1 demo (from the Actually Abbey Road demos) which actually turned into This Must Be The Placed I Waited Years To Leave.

Recorded in 1987 though. That's rather a brilliant demo, as is the other TLD demo which many dislike but I think is a work of genius.
