...is why they will never trouble the singles chart again.

Concert ticket sales is where it's at for PSB.

Drico.
I truly hope nickname doesn't read this.. He/She is still holding out hope that all Neil & Chris need to do is release It's A Sin 2 and they are guaranteed another number 1 smash..! 8)

You're missing the point.. :wall: If Dreamland was a thousand times better than It's A Sin (which I was using as an Imperial example) or indeed the best song they had ever released it wouldn't get anywhere near the higher end of the charts because their days as a big singles chart act are long over regardless of what they release. That, essentially is what Drico, myself and others here have tried to explain to you over recent years.. We would all love to see PSB's have another big singles hit but it's simply not going to happen. It really isn't diificult to understand. Accept it and feel immediately liberated..

Come on!, I know perfectly it's highly difficult for PSB to have another hit. But Drico knows perfectly Super has really good songs but not a masterclass song you can say it could be a Number 1 even in the 80's (Burn and Undertow could be a Top 5 maybe but not The Pop Kids, that's for sure).

But All Over the World, The Sodom and Gomorrah Show and Integral could have been Number 1 in the 80's, even Thursday could have been an easy Top 10.

Damn it, I've been sucked in here but I'm going to bite...

Yes. Those songs you mentioned may well have been big hits in the 80's. Slight snag is they weren't released until two decades later..! :wall:

I'm really struggling to see what your point is here..

Yes, they are still releasing great, high quality material and have done since their 80's commercial peak, but for what feels like the thousandth time, please accept that PET SHOP BOYS WILL NOT HAVE ANOTHER BIG SINGLE HIT, regardless of what they release.

So next year it'll be 35 years since their first Parlophone single was released. Why can't they just replicate Doris Day, Vera Lynn and Frankie Laine who were all over the singles chart in the mid-1980s? :?

Got to say I always preferred The Andrews sisters big hits in the 80s to their Imperial phase

Give it up. They tried releasing a single with a duet with a current artist who with their limited singles discography has accumulated four top 10 hits including a number 1 during the last 4 years, and it got absolutely nowhere. It is over.

Yeah they have recorded outstanding songs in the present. We already know this. We buy the albums.

Rest assured they'll probably still burn up the US Dance charts every once in a while like they had with The pop kids.
This is a song about boys and girls. You hear it playing all over the world.

Dreamland will never get top 40. It's Record of the week on BBC radio 2, but that'll do nothing.

Nickname will have to set up 10,000 Spotify accounts and stream the track on repeat if he wants the track in the charts so badly.

Which will do nothing for the UK charts as he’s living in Spain.

The only thing that could have *possibly* seen Dreamland go top 40 was if they had announced the single on a Sunday with pre-orders for a physical copy that would have been released on the Friday with the first play on the Friday the physicals were released, with an on air on sale digital bundle with a radio edit and a mix alongside the album preorder. However, yes whilst it would be great for the boys to have more Top 40 singles, sadly the truth is they are not made for streaming and chart hits in the modern UK charts. Even if they had a song with Adele, Stormzy and Ed Sheeran, the song would get a few weeks in the Top 20 before plummeting down to outside the top 200.

Even if there is a delay with physical formats, I am sure that the boys won’t suddenly ditch them and we will get some announcement with further details of the album.
