I am... dying... to hear willo the wisp because I just for the life of me cant see how that title can be turned into a coherent song. I feel like surely it has to be a enfant terribre or ego music style track. in any case I REALLY wish they would just push it out now. I mean seriously.

Has anyone noticed the poor mastering for this song, the same as the one for Dreamland ?
What happened with Tim Young ? He's been mastering tracks for the Boys for years now. What is it with this muddy sound where the high frequencies disappear ? Is nowadays music supposed to sound like this ?
The mastering ruins the latest songs by the boys. Tim Young is doing very poor job these days. They should change engineer

I've waited until I'd listened to it a few times before commenting. I initial reaction when I heard it this morning was " nice" , not bad- a good al I'm track. Listening to it a few more times, it's a real grower. Lovely lyrics, swooping chorus. It shows them at their songwriting best.

Some are saying this isn't a single? Why not? There's a radio edit and on the Official store it states the album features Dreamland and Burning the Heather. I suspect we'll get physical release details in the next fortnight.
Their Twitter profile says that it's a single.

The intro sounds a lot like "The Girl From Tiger Bay" by Dame Shirley Bassey.

Its a grower. Its not a big thumper like Vocal. So it's takes me a little longer to get into it. I found that a lot with Release. At the time I first heard it I was not super excited. But as you play it, it grows on you. Now I feel some of the things on Release are very deep.

I have to be honest, I really wish Andrew Dawson would have produced this track.

Will-o-the-wisp....total Kate Bush! Am particularly intrigued as to what this one sounds like or is actually about.

Total speculation on my part and probably completely wrong, but I wonder if the song is about Kenneth Williams? Although just reading Wikipedia it says "In literature, will-o'-the-wisp sometimes have a metaphorical meaning, e.g. describing a hope or goal that leads one on but is impossible to reach, or something one finds sinister and confounding" - which sounds like a very PSB theme!

:D I put together a playlist of a couple of the new tracks and some of the "Agenda" tracks and in the order I have listed them the running order works really well.

This is running order I used:

Give Stupidity A Chance
Burning The Heather
An Open Mind
What Are We Going To Do About The Rich
The Forgotten Child
If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to fear
If you've something to hide, you shouldn't even be here!

'Burning The Heather' reminds me of 'The Next Day' late Davie Bowie era tracks - knowingly reflective and honest. I could imagine Bowie singing this from the moment I heard it.

Check out their Spotify playlist Pet Shop Boys 2019 - they’ve compiled all their tracks from this year including Muzik into a decent running order.
Woof.

The Hotspot era will probably have more released songs from 2019 than 2020 if we include Agenda and definitely if we include Musik.
