Greetings,

I must admit, I'm quite surprised to see no one else (so far) has subbed out the album version of Dreamland for the (obviously superior 8) ) Pet Shop Boys remix. Given that it still clocks in at under five minutes, it doesn't feel out of place like an "extended version" might.

Retro. :)

it wouldn't be popular, but if I was the producer I would have dropped "you are the one",wedding in berlin, and burning the heather, make them B-sides and tell the boys dont come back until they have tracks more worthy of the main album than those.

the rest...are very good although I tend to sleep on "hoping for a miracle" which is just too monotonous although I can see that it appears to be a fan favorite. but wilo the wisp, happy people and I dont wanna and Only the dark....best ever tracks IMO

This CD flows beautifully - it's one of PSB's best-programmed albums.

But - I have been substituting the sublime At Rock Bottom in place of the amusing but irritating Wedding in Berlin lately.

I'd keep the album as it is. I won't change the Mona Lisa because I don't like her smile.

I love the album, and don’t think it needs changing. Occasionally I skip Dreamland though.

The Japanese Edition would have benefited from having An open mind and Decide as the bonus tracks.
I'm a proud sycophant because I like Wedding in Berlin

1Will-o’-the-wisp
2 At rock bottom
3 Happy people
4 Dreamland
5 Decide
6 Hoping for a miracle
7 Monkey business
8 Monkey business Prins mix
9 I don’t wanna
10 Only the dark
11 Burning the heather
12 Decide remix

Bonus disc
1 an open mind
2 what are we going to do about the rich
3 on social media
4 give stupidity a chance
5 no boundaries
6 Monkey business friends mix
7 ich ben music

In my opinion Hotspot is a great era with an ( only ) good Album. But nonetheless a large number of very good songs. I rate monkey business, Burning the Heather, only the dark, I don’t wanna, An open mind, Give stupidity a chance and On social media as part of my top 100 tracks by the Pet Shop Boys. If I had the patience to actually make a list that long. give my running order for the album proper a listen it really does work wonders for the album. As far as I’m concerned the only real dud’s of this era are You are the one, and wedding in Berlin although I might grow to like wedding in Berlin.

That the PSB have become SO bad at electing their own tracks for albums is cause of constant dismay.

I want people to realise how great the are these days and not hie stuff away on b-sides.

However, I'd like to keep changes to Hotspot to a minimum, as it's got a better feel to it as an album than others - this would be my preferred track listing: And who an earth wood prefer the radio edit of Heather

1. Willo the wisp.
2. You are the one
3. Happy people.
4. Dreamland.
5. Hoping for a miracle.
6. I don't wanna.
7. Monkey business.
8. An open mind
9. Only the dark
10. Burning the heather.
11. Decide

Honestly just remove Wedding and pretend it never existed.
The rest of the album, though not great is fine as is for a Stuart Price album.

The PSB don't really know how to end and album well . . . for the most part. In my opinion Footsteps and Requiem are the best enders. Saturday Night is not bad either. Quite a few times the different albums have a good ender then they ruin it by tacking on the end after it. Fundamental and Yes suffer from this. Hotspot also suffers from this as Heather sort of works as an ender, well it's better than every other other track there as an ender.

The other albums just get it totally wrong.
If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to fear
If you've something to hide, you shouldn't even be here

Not a fan of endlessly trying to fix things, since everyone has different expectations of what "mode" of PSB they want.

I can totally understand why people do it!

But can I say, how lucky are we to have such an absolute WEALTH of great tracks and remixes to play around with.

Such fun!

No Only the dark? Hmmm.
Er, no. Its a tingle-tangle chittering and chattering, spluttering and splattering track. "You are the whine, I want the whine."

I have however realised a heinous crime of forgetting to include "Decide" a crime almost as bad as closing an album with "Wedding in Berlin", so I correct my previous tracklist:

1. Will o the Wisp.
2. At Rock Bottom.
3. Happy people.
4. Dreamland.
5. Hoping for a miracle.
6. I don't wanna.
7. Monkey business.
8. An Open mind.
9. Decide
10. Burning the heather.

I almost regret leaving "Only the dark" off only for the
"Don’t be scared
for only the dark
can show you the stars
I’ll be there
the moment the dark
reopens your heart"

But the music is meh.
