Virgin Megastore and Tower Records in London

#1 Post by Axonthenet »

When I was dreaming about London when I started to follow the PSB, two of the places I wanted to see in person were Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus and Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street that seemed to me two giant music reigns we I would have found all the records I wanted to buy.
When I went to London for the first time in 2002, i only succeed to make a brief 10-minutes visit before closing time an Virgin Megastore and seen Tower Records from outside.

Does someone on the forum have photos of the two stores? I just wanted to see how they looked like...

Don’t have photos of either but spent many an hour in Virgin in the 90s. Preferred it to Tower. Tower was always more expensive than virgin. Way more. Did see the Boys at Tower in 2001 for the Further Listening releases. The Virgin megastore at Tottenham Court Road was the best. The smaller one at Marble Arch end was never as “stocked”.

I took these two photographs at HMV in Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street in march 2011 when I went to London for “The most incredible thing”. It was ten years ago, it seems like yesterday. I used to visit the Piccadilly Circus store at night... what a great time and wonderful memories...
