The concept of this tour was first floated on this forum immediately after New Order's 2020 residency in Miami. My wife and I flew out to this and attended two nights. My first thought was "I just paid for an entire trip to see New Order in Miami, and now this so soon!?" My response to the person floating the idea was that I wasn't certain I was interested in this double bill as I literally just saw New Order twice in Miami, and the set lists would likely be truncated. The person posting this, presumably a representative of either PSB's or New Order's organization, stated these would be full set lists. Obviously, a lot has changed in over two years, but this joint tour was initially suggested as a full double bill.

I doubt it. People don’t have patience for that. But I’m an idiot so who knows.
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

I also remember Bad Lieutenant playing Tighten Up in 2009. But I’ve always seen Electronic as a Bernard plus Johnny plus a sometimes Neil thing and a very occasional Chris thing, which is a bit different to these shows which are a New Order plus Pet Shop Boys thing. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I’d also love to hear them do those amazing tracks but I imagine we will be more likely to hear them guest on each other’s material. Bernard on Dreamland? Neil on True Faith? Chris on drums for Blue Monday?

It’s definitely being sold as a full double bill but I think 2 x 90 minute sets would still fulfil that brief. I would say that’s the longest it’s likely to be for either act. Another option would be 2 shorter sets and a longer shared “Unity” encore.

Neil freakin sung on GAWI, POAS, and Disappointed. Plus Disappointed is practically a PSB song. They are as much Neil/Bernard songs as they are Bernard/Johnny songs.

This is true. But only one is a Pet Shop Boys song, and none are New Order songs. Anyway, let’s keep everything crossed and see what happens.

The melody of the chorus of Disappointed is basically the same one of Smell Like Teen Spirit. That song is practically from the same era and there is an unreleased version from PSB of Smell Like Teen Spirit.

Thank God it's unreleased. Honestly not keen on hearing their take on Smells like teen spirit.

It's called "Party Song" and is the b-side of "Numb"

Yes, that was definitely a missed opportunity...not to release it.

Numb, you mean? :D It's probably that one foul deal of their career, isn't it? Accepting a song by an external songwriter who had already offered it to Aerosmith (sic!) and even making it one of their singles. One might wonder how PSB took profit of that arrangement. Or was it an act of charity to accept that leftover? Thankfully, it's not been chosen to promote PopArt and is rather unknown as that third choice single of Fundamental. Anyway, Chris thankfully noticed that the fans "hated" it. So there's a chance we'll never hear it again. ;)

Trevor Horn did a wonderful job with Numb. The single edit was a hatchet job, though.
