But the news about Smash, has generated some interest in their old compilations, Discography is at# 97 and Ultimate at# 56 in the U.K I-Tunes Album Chart at the moment.

It doesn't replace Discography which is a work in its own. Remember it ends with five new/exclusive tracks collected on CD for the first time.

I'm not sure why you listed some of the above as new/exclusive on CD for the first time. Only DJ Culture and Was It Worth It were new around the time of release (DJ Culture had already been released prior to Discography). Plus these seven inch versions all appeared on their respective CD singles when first released:

• Being Boring
• Jealousy
• DJ Culture

I remember being quite excited when buying Discography that it was the first time Pet Shop Boys had released several early single versions on CD for the first time:

• West End Girls
• Opportunities
• Suburbia
• Rent
• Heart
• Domino Dancing
• Where The Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes Off You)

I see what you mean about Discography being its own "work" though. Despite having the same tracklisting and versions, this time around, it will be part one of a larger three CD 'Smash set, with different artwork.

Anyone from outside of the UK been able to order from the official site yet? Tried different browsers, connected to a UK ip via a vpn, different payment methods but still no joy.

I want to give them money!!!

I've to report the same, unfortunately.
I hoped that they would fix it during the weekend but even after 5 days no progress.
It's so annoying that they have zero interest in taking > 500 Euros from some fellow PSB fans.
Has anyone an idea where to address it? Beside contacting the PSB store which isn't responding......

Hi, someone gave me workaround so I made order trough US shop No. 0000239658SF_US with no problem, but postage was twice expensive and I'm not shure if it goes from UK or US...

Before I tryed more browsers on PC and mobile phone aswell. Different credit cards, paypal... My friend made from his home new account and order with no sucess... Many people on social media reports this problem, probably mainly outside the UK.

Quite a bit of new info in the new PSB social media post - key bits below:

The Smash project came about after Warners asked to rerelease Discography on vinyl. PSB instead suggested extending it to include all their singles.

It was originally planned to be called Hit Music but Chris came up with Smash after being inspired by the artist Roy Lichtenstein - plus the way people used to say “it’s a smash” about singles, and Neil’s connection to Smash Hits.

All UK singles released on CD are included - plus West end girls to Suburbia. Double A sides or EPs just get the lead track which received radio play. UK seven inch mixes are used throughout, except for New York City boy, where PSB prefer the US edit.

Chris Heath interviewed them for the accompanying booklet. Smash is also discussed in the forthcoming edition of Annually.

So the logic is as following:
"Smash" only includes singles released in UK on CD but as 7inch versions, not the versions released on those CD singles...
Not a crystal clear logic to begin with.
So they started relaxing these rules by including the "Please" singles even if they were not released on CD. Imagine a greatest hits compilation without those singles...
Then, of course, we cannot have CD versions, otherwise we would have "Where The Sreets Have No Name" and "Vocal" in full length form.
And to add to the confusion, they have used the US single version for "NYC Boy" instead of the UK one.
What a mess !

The way you re-articulate it is a mess. It’s simple:

They’ve confirmed the definition of a single they are using for track selection
They’ve confirmed the rationale used for the mix that’s included
