A weak link between PSB and Eurovision.

Had a listen and it has more than a hint of PSB DNA in it ... but it's not a winner ... nor is it 'Winner' thankfully

https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/2024/eu ... nder-dizzy

"We took the feeling of Dizziness and put that into the production, so there’s a lot of undulating arpeggios, lilting harmonies and counter rhythms in the backing vocals. We were inspired by a lot of music we love from the 80’s like Erasure, Adamski and of course Pet Shop Boys.”

BBC has described it as “imagine the Pet Shop Boys on a trip to the disco” (great sentence). Though despite the pulsating PSB-esque rhythm, the BBC are quite scathing adding “If there's a criticism, it's that the song could go harder”. One of their journalists on Radio 2 said it’s not a winner.

Personally, it’s good, catchy but sounds a bit of a cheap version of It’s a sin for me. Can’t see it winning either, sorry.

It has a very hectic, ecstatic anger to it which I really like. A good song, well produced and well front-maned. Like alot of good songs it evokes a feeling without trying - personally I love the feeling it provokes. it benefits from the video though and I'm looking forward to seeing it performed live.

Eurovision! Dizzy

#7 Post by Seanyboy »

Ok. Bit shocked. Just got here to see no reference to the release of Olly Alexander’s Eurovision single.

Could have been written by PSB. All reviews say it sounds like PSB. More than a few resemblances to It’s A Sin. Even Olly says it’s influenced by 80s PSB and Erasure.

Can somebody point me to the correct thread?

Tbf, there are good reasons not to care about Eurovision this year.
