I have it! However, here you can find West End Girls [nouvelle version], that is the FR/BE single version, 4:10 long.

My hunting for West End Girls [original 7" version] (uk single version 4:14 long) is still in progress :|

I think there is a full version of West End Girls we haven't listened yet with the production Stephen Hague. There is a file on the DVD of "Smash" that gives us a file about it.

That ending of West End Girs says a lot:

This has been discussed before, and it's most likely a unique instrumental edit created for the Blu-ray menus from the multi-tracks used to create the live versions. However, I've often wondered if there's a "full length" version we've never heard that is the version on 'Please', but including the extra version only heard on the 12" and 10" mixes - so the same in structure as the live version on 'Performance'. I would imagine if this version exists, it would have been on the 'Please' Further Listening bonus disc though, so guess the extra verse remains unique to the 12" and 10" mixes.

Yes, West End Girls [original 7" version] was published on the first UK 7'' press: https://www.psb-catalogue.com/weg84pic.php

Here you can find a vinyl rip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQjmPTCrtAE

It seems that it is also on the Canadian 7'' promo: https://www.discogs.com/release/232226- ... -End-Girls

VRIDD wrote: Fri 01 Mar 2024, 11:39 pm Does anybody know if West End Girls [original 7" version] has ever been published on CD?

I mean the 1984 original uk single version, 4:14, that is

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQjmPTCrtAE
Let make some clarification in this chaotic world of the ZYX-West End girls version.
This one form the youtube video you posted, known by fans as "original 7" version" only appeared on the original "Power records" Canadian 7" of West End Girls, and it´s NOT the same as the 7" mix included on the original European releases of the single.

To clarify even more, that version from youtube is included only here:
https://www.discogs.com/release/232226- ... -End-Girls

Wich is different from the rest of the 7" versioon from any other country..

That version of Smash is an edit (for sure specially made for Smash) of the backing track they used for the 1986 MTV Awards performance.

A longer mix of the "album version" do exist, as we can hear here, where they choosed to go on with the live singing for nearly 45 second more than when it fades on the album. Maybe there is even more lenght on the original backing track!

Interesting to hear that - thanks for the link. Really odd Neil included the "Stalin" lines in this version (as late as 1986). Also interesting to here the extra verse from the 10"/12", but at the end of the track, rather than after the instrumental break. This doesn't, however, mean a studio version of the longer album version exists (with or without the extra verse): the backing track they're using here, is a stripped back version of the album mix, missing the backing vocals and with a much longer ending - shame the performance ends before the music stops.

Anyone got a link to the 1986 MTV Awards performance - I couldn't find it on YouTube?

So the 40th anniversary would be perfect to publish West End Girls [original 7" version] on CD or digitally for the very first time!
