Three makeweight album fillers right there, as are the aforementioned Casanova In Hell and Numb. Some of their albums are very uneven and curate's egg as a result. Always great tracks on every album they just stick so much that is good away in the hidden b-side discography. I think many, many 'bonus' tracks are far superior to many, many album fillers.Tom Angel wrote: Mon 25 Mar 2024, 3:43 pm Luna park is one of their finest tunes in the tradition of the Theatre and Dreaming of the Queen.

This thread, and the responses in it show there is no possible solution that will make everyone happy, but also the joy of being a PSB fan. It is never going to be possible to please all of us because we all have different tastes.
Ultimately they are Neil and Chris' albums and they quite rightly put what they want on them. There have been many a time where I have thought a b-side would have been better on an album, or bemoaned a track not being released as a single, but that is my preference and it means that instead I have this wonderful b-side, or album track that I can listen to.
And for what it's worth I love Casanova in hell, the theatre, dreaming of the queen and Luna park.

I don't get how you can put Luna park, the theatre and dreaming of the queen as fillers, but that's the fun of having different tastes with the same band. As Chris said Twentieth century is a filler while for me it's one of my favorite song.

I agree 100%...one must wonder about someone who calls "Luna Park" a "low point"....NotInvisible wrote: Mon 25 Mar 2024, 2:33 pm Luna Park and Casanova in Hell are brilliant album tracks. LMFAO at the b-sides comment...

So, nickname, where are those snippets you said would obviously be released today?
Why do you post endless, pointless threads about nothing?
Why do you constantly try to draw attention to yourself, when you have little to say?
Why can't we live together?
Why am I even writing this?

the PSB demos are remarkably complete
love Luna Park, Casanova, Numb, etc...
"Come and join a line / the ghost train leaves on time" is a very sneaky double entendre.

Are these all that rare? I've had everything but the LP Superchumbo mix for many years. Figured they were in wide circulation at this point and all but the LP Superchumbo mix can be found on a filesharing service as we speak.Nickname wrote: Mon 25 Mar 2024, 12:34 pm Enjoy!

I know taste is subjective, but I'm just gobsmacked by this. I've always considered Dreaming of the Queen and The Theatre to be career highlights myself. Luna Park and Casanova in Hell are solid album tracks.
Re: Pet Shop Boys - 5 UNRELEASED tracks from the Fundamental era (Superchumbo, Warren, demos, etc)
It is gobsmacking
But then I remind myself they have such a long and wide career that they could have probably been two or three different bands stylistically.
So sometimes we are listening to different bands, and some of us are a little more particular with who they listen to

Bilingual comes to mind - I know Hit and Miss wasn't really a good fit for the album, but it's much much better than half of the album at least.Old Soak wrote: Mon 25 Mar 2024, 8:02 pm Three makeweight album fillers right there, as are the aforementioned Casanova In Hell and Numb. That’s the thing about negative energy, about hatred. It can be positive. It throws into relief all the things you know you like. It tells you, by elimination, what you’re about. Sometimes you can only define yourself by what you hate. Hatred becomes an inspiration; it makes you think, “What I’m doing now I totally believe in, and I don’t care what other people say.” Guided by hatred, you don’t have to follow the herd. - Neil Tennant

Luna Park is an amazing song, as is almost all of Fundamental.

Wow never heard, heard of, or seen that before. That's some "video" - like an x-rated Derek Jarman Its a Sin video!Oznerol wrote: Mon 25 Mar 2024, 5:19 pm As someone posed on that youtube video, the Luna Park mix is not an unofficial leak..in fact, it has even an "official" video made around it!!, and it´s on youtube since 10 years ago, with very few views. The rare thing is that it remained out of the radar for almost everybody here!!

"The Superchumbo Mix was specially commissioned by the infamous Black Party in New York, an annual legendary gay/fetish/S&M party that gets pretty raunchy. Every year there is a "theme" and in 2013 –when Tom Stephan was headlining the DJ roster– the theme was "Luna Park." The Pet Shop Boys gave Stephan access to the vocal track but requested NOT to be involved or mentioned. Stephan –very quickly– delivered the mix that served as a centerpiece for the promotion of the event."
