imho this is their best lead single since Can you forgive her?
immediate, insanely catchy, upbeat, electronic, and smart - everything I personally love about the PSB's
everyone is entitled to their opinions, of course - it's a shame to see so many people wallowing in depression!

I admit I had my reservations when I heard the title weeks back, but the sample was a pleasant surprise based on my expectations and I really enjoyed my first listen.
I couldn’t agree more with what Drico wrote. However the opening stanza hooked me (maybe because I’m touring Italy at the moment).
So far I’m liking the vibe of these songs. The quality of the production is very nice, not over produced but rich and full. Sense of time is classic PSB.
I don’t know exactly what people want. They are delivering Pet Shop Boys music, it’s fresh and still evocative of their classic sound. Build a bridge.

Every time I start Dancing Star I can't help but believe that Go West is going to start playing.
I love the song for its retro 80s sounds. Lots of samples and processing in just the right amount.
I think the song is very good although it is true that the chorus sometimes seems forced.
Regarding Sense of Time, I simply think it is a very powerful beginning. It surprises and is fantastic. It's a very Chris song.
If Jesus had a sister i think it's a very Behavior song at first but then it takes on its own style little by little. Very good too.
I think we have very good material waiting for us on the album.
There is little to comment on the remixes. They are for certain moments.
I'm more into remixes from the 80s and 90s.
Overall, I think it's very good material.

It’s funny that most of you are not into the chorus. That was the biggest surprise to me. I don’t normally love “shouting Neil” but the processing on his vocals really gives it an oomph and makes it sound shiny and sparkly. Ha ha! I know that sounds like a ridiculous description but that’s how I hear it.

Took me a few listens but Dancing Star is fantastic stripped back and quite minimal with a killer synth hook ,reminds me of the please era which is a good thing ,definitely preferring Dancing Star to Loneliness .

The chorus is infectious, with the call and response. Loving Dancing Star !vincenzosz wrote: Wed 03 Apr 2024, 3:48 pm It’s funny that most of you are not into the chorus. Dancing Star is the b-side
They got it backwards.
In your opinion.

This is definitely the "B-sides EP". Dancing Star and Sense Of Time are both serviceable. If I'd heard the Solomun remix first I would have said that's a great bit of tempo to throw into the album mix. Superchumbo should never be let near another PSB track in the first place. I was hoping with Princess Julia on it, they would have twisted it to be about the 80s nightclub rather than WWII nostalgia. Ah well.

Interesting take. My October Symphony is my favorite PSB track and I don't see the connection at all but we all hear different things.

Sure the PSB spoil us endless, but this release looked like a fancy buffet with exotic dishes, but the taste felt run-of-the-mill
Sense of time, I would have preferred an instrumental version...the vocals/lyrics
If jesus had a sister - the most intriguing of the bunch, fantastic production but I feel the music overpowers neil's vocals. could have made for a great acoustic song? didn't quite get the lyrics in some places, can't wait to read it.
The Superchumbo mix, gave me very Born Slippy, big room vibes.
+1, but I preferred the remix better, Solonum mixes are the best in a long time..Tentenlad wrote: Wed 03 Apr 2024, 2:07 pm Catchy, interesting retro sound. Feels as though it needs a bit more energy in the chorus, though it picks up at the end. Bit like a cross between Say it to me / Thursday and Madonna circa 1984.

"If Jesus had a sister" is one of the reasons why Neil is such a great lyricist. he will approach a subject from a interesting less trodden on way.
my take on the lyrics is he is saying there was too many yes men in Jesus's life and maybe there needed to be someone closer to home who could talk him back to reality. thats my take on the lyrics, which dont jibe with my personal position on the subject but inventive lyrics are inventive lyrics thats what matters to me.
etherway the music is fundamental style moody electronic atmospheric stuff mixed with strings. a def new favorite!

I’ve no idea why but I hear elements of Up Against It in Dancing Star
