You can listen to a snippet on the Beatport website, 2 minutes.

A differently structured remix that doesn’t just have the vocals removed, ala an instrumental. But I’ll go and buy to find out!

Ok, it doesn’t sound that different from the main mixes, but let me know what you think

For what it's worth, Dancing star is up to number 20 from number 701 on the official UK Radio Airplay chart. It's managed this on 73 plays - but as many of those were on BBC Radio, the reach is considered high at 18.1. For comparison, some of the tracks around it on the chart were played 2,000 times - but on stations with more localised reach. No? Me neither.

Re: New single „Dancing star“ (digital April 3rd / CD May 3rd)
As it was public holiday here, I had barely the chance to listen to the new package. As I said before, Sense of Time was great and I was already half addicted to it.
My feelings to a PSB song are very strict like black and white: I either like or dislike it upon initial hearing. Mostly there is not a great change later, or oh yeah it has grown on me feeling about their songs (the most striking exception is Can You Forgive Her). I hated West End Girls upon its release and I still RARELY listen to it except for Shep Pettibone remix (which is great). West End Girls has never grown on me although, probably influenced by so many good reviews, feverish fan comments and its chart positions and rewards etc, I forced myself NOT TO HATE IT because I somehow feel as an outcast as everyone else loves it.
Thus: Sense of Time is great, fantastic. The part that starts with Neil shouting "in these imminent dark ages" takes me to the high places that great PSB songs have always managed to take. So it is still, and will be, a classic for me.
Dancing Star: While it is better than anything in Super and more than half of Hotspot, the single itself is too short. I am surplassed here why they did release it this short (I had felt the same thing about Home and Dry video with all those stupid mice and subway tracks lol
I still ask myself: why?) But Solumun extended mix makes up its shortfall more than enough and I quite like it. If I made imaginary charts, it would never be my number one but would be in top ten for a long time. By the way, Sense of Time would be at the top for weeks. Unneccesary info: my number one song before Sense of Time was Moby's In my Heart (which I regretully discovered VERY late) and before that, Touch me by Rui De Salva (which I rediscovered thanks to the Guardian list).
The third song: I have not still listened to it properly but my initial feelings are not that good. The last slow number from the Boys that I loved was Indefinite Leave to Remain from Fundamental.
All in all, after the frustrating disappointment of Loneliness (because it had the very potential to be GREAT), I am really happy now and hopeful for the new album. Something in my heart tells me that it will be better than Super and Hotspot and as good as Bilingual or Electric
Many thanks to the Boys for this package.

Just watched the Dancing Star video for the first time. NIce but not in my PSB top 20 videos, but one thing that struck me is that they are both starting to look old now (mind you, so am I...), don't want to sound ageist but many pop stars seem to have a longer period of looking "middle-aged" than the average Joe (eg Bowie from the late 80's until 2000, the Durans from mid 90's to approx. 2010, and the Boys until some 10 years ago) and then ageing suddenly catches up with them.
Unbelievable that Neil is turning 70 this year. Much older than my dad ever lived to be. Still, the music they make must make them (and me certainly!) feel younger than their age.
Talking about age: my partner who is 4 years younger than me had never heard of Rudolf Nureyev...
Looking forward to the physical copy of DS and the full album of course

There's a great bit on the Chart Music podcast where Taylor Parkes riffs about an alternative reality where Mick Jagger went bald at 40. If Neil still had his Botticelli curls (dyed), he'd look at least a decade younger.oakey wrote: Sun 14 Apr 2024, 1:53 pm Just watched the Dancing Star video for the first time. If one was born far enough into the 80s, let's say 1984... there are at least four important things missing from memory:oakey wrote: Sun 14 Apr 2024, 1:53 pm

The rise of AIDS and the famous people who died of it
The Cold War
The terrorism in Europe (ETA, IRA, RAF, maffia in Italy etc)
The liberation of Central Europe from communism/Russia
Four things which are good to have in the back of your head when trying to dicipher the current state of world affairs.

Came across this fan remix. I can't say I agree with the mix but the video is imho superior to the PSB official... if what you want is some kind of idea of who Rudolf N was.

Ok. I can now officially say that I love Dancing Star.
At first listen I thought : what the hell is this !!!!! ???!!!
Of course I gave it a couple more spins. And with each play I discovered new things. Extra layers. And I started to like it more and more.
And like I said now I love it.
I also had lukewarm feelings towards Loneliness. But then it clicked.
Maybe the same Will happen with the full album ? Since Neil said in An interview that he hated the album on first listen.

Listening to vernon Kay on radio 2 this morning he played an instrumental version of dancing star fading in and out between chat before he went on to play the single version. It all sounded amazing!
