An evening with the Pet Shop Boys and album preview

I have the impression "Love is the Law" has an amazing outro (I think is the one you could listen in the docummentary) but the song is a bit meh according some reviews think. Not really high ratings for this song.

Maybe the ones who have listened the album can say more about the closer song of Nonetheless.

I’m home again after a quick one day trip to London for this exclusive opportunity to listen to a new album by PSB before release.
I arrived 30 minutes before the doors opened and there was already a queue of around 30-50 people when I turned up. After attaching the purple wristband I descended down the escalator to the bar area outside Hall One. I hadn’t expected there would be anything to buy but I couldn’t resist buying the autographed books even though I already had all three. I was told that Neil and Chris had signed them all earlier in the day. The two Chris Heath books were signed by both Neil and Chris and the lyrics book was signed by Neil.
I quickly found my seat on row P. Since I bought what I think was the last ticket sold for this event I had been worried that the sound below the balcony would be terrible.
The pre event and interval music was controlled from the booth behind my seat and I noticed it was a Spotify playlist containing songs with a PSB connection - music they have been influenced by (fx Soft Cell - Bedsitter), mixes they have made (fx. Blur - Boys and Girls), collaborations (fx Jean Michel Jarre - Brick England) and their own songs (fx. In denial).
When the album preview started I was horrified by the sound as I thought the bass was too dominant on Loneliness but if I leaned forward in my seat it helped a little bit. I think the sound improved after the first two songs.
I’m not able to rate the songs but I thought the album is fantastic. My favourite was: Love is the law. I also very much liked: Feel, New London boy and Why am I dancing. For some reason A new bohemia didn’t impress me that much. The schlager hit parade use of the word Christmas again and again reminded me too much of a Christmas song. The secret of happiness was beautiful. Bullet for Narcissus I didn’t quite understand at first listen.
All in all an almost magical experience sitting in the dim light with around 400 fellow fans listening in silence.
The in Conversation part was very exciting and I thought that both the interview and the Q and A part was both fun and insightful. Time went by so fast and suddenly almost 3 hours had passed. I look forward to be sent a link to watch the In Conversation part again.

Some people are REALLY obsessed with how much they hate Wedding in Berling. My god!

It's the worst song they've ever done. Wasn't it written as a wedding gift and they decided to chuck it on the album? They must realise now the missed opportunity of putting Decide (one of the best songs they've ever written) as the last track.

I can't believe they didn't know what they did when putting this song at the end. I see it as a kind of joke from the boys.

No, he said it is the “received wisdom” (meaning the common opinion) that the film and musical were missteps, but qualified that by saying the DVD of the film is the BFI’s highest seller, and that the musical is having yet another London revival this year. So I don’t think he sees them as failures.

It’s moody, with great lyrics. The chorus is very dramatic, and the outro was a surprise, almost as if another track had started. It’s beautiful. I didn’t recognise it from the documentary, but I might be wrong.

Of course, the are not going to go against his works because they put an effort on it and they like what they did.

I get that it's a naff track, in some ways. But I love that burst of giddy brightness at the end of a largely grey album. I mean, even the upbeat Monkey Business is about a man who's given up on things. Wedding is just unadulterated silliness and to me it works alright.

I just found it irritating how the parts where it gets pretty were so good, that I cant see why they would staple them to the repetitive blocky dance stuff. I would have been interested at the reception at the wedding of the guests.

I mean your dancing...then stopping...dancing then stopping, it just must have been awkward.
