Anyone wishing for an inch to the right is a fool. The consequences of his assassination would be unthinkable for the country and the world. Whatever you think of Trump, we've all dodged a bullet today apart from the victims and the gunman.

Well said.Leonidas wrote: Sun 14 Jul 2024, 12:20 pm It’s a good thing Trump is ok. The ramifications are huge. Only him and Orban in the West are talking about peace for Russia/Ukraine.

Indeed. Whatever your thoughts and opinions of Trump, the fact he's OK is good for everyone. Anyone wishing him serious harm debases their point and says more for them than anything else...

No, the song is about being conflicted by an overriding sense of duty and loyalty to protect a position of power because that is what the job is; yet hating personally the very person being protected. Sometimes in employment you have to eat sh@t and grin and bear it. And Neil is on record somewhere saying exactly who it is about.DopeFiend wrote: Sun 14 Jul 2024, 10:17 am Eh, I don't see the connection.
To me the song is about loving someone like Trump to the point they'd take a bullet for them.
It's probably written about Carol Babbitt who did just that during the Capitol Storm.
When I say love I don't mean in the romantic sense but more-so a heroic idealising way, the way someone looks up to a leader that they aspire to be like and would do anything for.
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing

What an asinine comment. His version of "peace" is allowing an invader to keep the land it seized.Leonidas wrote: Sun 14 Jul 2024, 12:20 pmOnly him and Orban in the West are talking about peace for Russia/Ukraine.

It's charitable that this forum welcomes people of all races, creeds, political allegiances and those of developing intelligence.DopeFiend wrote: Sun 14 Jul 2024, 10:17 am Eh, I don't see the connection.

There was a peace deal agreed shortly after the start of the war, Ukrainian neutrality is the main objective for the Russians. However, Zelenskyy changed his mind after Boris Johnson’s visit. If you don’t know about the Monroe Doctrine, 1812, 1941, 1962 and Nato expansion, then you should read up about these important geopolitical events.
The main thing is that PSB continue to make great music. Peace. X
PS I don’t have nothing against any country or religions, even the people who invaded my own and made my family refugees.

Rubbish. Just don't invade Ukraine to begin with. Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons to appease Ruzzia. Why don't YOU read about the Budapest Memorandum.
Ukraine isn't the one killing people by sending thousands of missiles into another country.

Yanukovych was removed by the CIA, NATO wants to expand into Ukraine, the Minsk agreements were not taking seriously by the West. Do you think the Russians are going to let the West threaten their security???!?!

If the West keeps escalating we will end up with tactical nuclear weapons being used and/or potentially WW3 - so having Trump and Orban talking peace with Putin is absolutely the right thing to do!

The presence of right-wing extremists on a Pet Shop Boys forum is objectively hilarious.

Your message is deeply concerning to the children of this World. Firstly, we live in a democracy and I haven’t been rude to anyone. Secondly, many political experts, politicians and academics share these views. The World is not just the Western opinion.richwill wrote: Mon 15 Jul 2024, 10:37 pm The presence of right-wing extremists on a Pet Shop Boys forum is objectively hilarious.
Most importantly the doomsday clock is 90 seconds to midnight, so having some dialogue and respect between nations is not a bad idea, otherwise we sleep walk into WW3.
Peace X.
