I'd disagree with that, particularly the fairly awful, cheesy Olympic spectacle. Remember that was when they were trying to have an Olympic-related hit with Winner.

Ultimately, they were a massive pop group who then fell out of fashion, as pop groups tend to do, but whose songs were strong enough to last the course. It happened with ABBA, it happened with the BeeGees, it even happened with The Beatles in the 70s. Touring helps too of course but no-one with their back catalogue was ever going to disappear from popular culture for good.

Modern music scene doesn't support too many long careers these days. You could argue Coldplay are more a greatest hits band now, even though they still occasionally chart with catchy fairy floss.
