Being Wrong

#1 Post by mole973102 »

Keep meaning to post this...

On the original 'Being Boring video' the quote is:
"She was never bored, because she was never boring"

...which is different to the quote mentioned in the 'Being Boring (New Version)':
"She was never bored, mainly because she was never boring"

So, which is it?

I imagine the latter is correct as it's an odd word to add unintentionally. The original quote must have been paraphrasing.

I think Neil made a vocal mistake. Plenty of room for 'mainly'.

Zelda Fitzgerald: “...she covered her face with powder and paint because she didn’t need it and she refused to be bored chiefly because she wasn’t boring. She was conscious that the things she did were the things she had always wanted to do.”
Woof.

“She refused to be bored chiefly because she wasn't boring.”

― Zelda Fitzgerald, The Collected Writings

Looks like they're both wrong!

Now I think about it, think Neil has given this quote before... But what was on the invite?
This is an 'Annually 2025' question.

Neil: “The words “being boring” took me back to the early ’70s and an invitation I had received to the Great Urban Dionysia Party in Newcastle, England, where I grew up.

On the invitation was this adaptation of a 1922 Zelda Fitzgerald quote about a flapper friend who had died: “She was never bored because she was never boring.”

Thinking of the invitation and quotation reminded me of a close friend who had died of AIDS four months earlier at age 34. He had organized that teenage party.”
Woof.
